It all depends. Did the turbo seal go out or intake impeller? It is a turbo engine so a little more than a naturally asperated engine. Unless it is a 78 or 79, then probably a boat anchor.

The early years have a different head and intake than the 80-84, and will not interchang. Not worth much, couple hundred bucks maybe.
Worst case I would say core value. This way if they are a total lost there would be some sort of value.
Engine may be of interest to jeep guys for an offroading machine. Probably your best bet.
Trans... Probably not so much use, keep it for a core depending if it's a th350, or scrap if it's a th200c....
As an aside, if/when you get to the point I may be interested in trading you something (s) for either the complete air intake (bonnet, tube, airbox), the small control box and harness that would've bolted on the fan shroud, and the factory rims... depending on condition.
I keep trying to quit hoarding and accumulating, but, those are the types of things id still probable wind up doing something with. Then again, would have to mail back and forth between georgia too...

Well I appreciate the information. I could not find this info and was slightly curious. Glad I didnt decide to persue building this engine since its not interchangeable.

After 8 hours in a u-pull it yard my buddy and we were able to get this out of an 05 Tahoe. We had it 95% ready at 3 hours but we could not get the engine mounts unbolted from the frame or the trans to separate from the engine, 2005 tahoe with a frame in worse shape than my 79 regal
. So we had to unbolt the mounts from the block and pull the engine and trans together. Which was not exactly fun on a 4x4 truck.
also cleaned out the junk that was in my trunk since purchasing the car.
will probably also start a build thread soon, now that i have another engine, the original drivetrain pulled and a few other things done to the car
