After a huge struggle with Mallory ignition and Flexalite fan controller, I went back to a near stock HEI and the factory 4 blade fan. With the timing set at 22 initial, it goes like hell.

Well, I got expensive 2.5" tail pipes put on. I was planning to go to the track tomorrow. Found I had no reverse. I checked the fluid, low! My daughter ran it low, cooked the 2004R! I am thinking of leaving the 2.78 gears and getting the original TH350 rebuilt, was leaking and dying, currently in my 88 CSC.

I got them from Summit, PUI brand. PUI's online catalog is terrible, I ordered the front seat cover. Only kind of right, got the model with no head rest, just eliminated my head rests. The fit was not great on the sweeps, as said in the reviews, one hole for the front needed drilled slightly and the original screws work best. Unless I didn't properly install them, the sweeps needed trimmed. Otherwise the front window and little rear window sweeps hit each other. Pretty common for aftermarket parts, need modification. So I recently picked up a dual pattern TH350C from a 1986 Chebby Caprice, the original TH350 was put back in, would hardly go into gear this spring . I checked for the dreaded TH250C band adjustment stud and it was not there. I am pretty sure the dual pattern TH350C is rare. I am lucky that my local wrecker is second generation. I got his last good 2004R for my 88 CSC, pretty sure it was rebuilt at some point. His dad told him the 2004R's died early new. My Boss told me the same thing, they died new at 130,000 km. I will tell him to join, he had an 86 Monte SS, that trans lasted through tons of abuse, I told him it is a different animal that the regular 2004R. He just bought a 1988 Monte Carlo SS. Anyways I plan on adding a Transgo shift for the lock up transmission. I used trans hydraulic fluid with a couple of liters of type F for colour. Sick of these trans leaking so far, so good. I need to adjust the kick down cable, fancy braided aftermarket, set too tight. I also need to fix the speedometer, broke the clip on the gear, new one coming. I also need more stall, won't even spin the tires from a dead stop. With the 2300 flash stall, rated at 2200 to 2500 stall in front of the 2004R, even with the 2.78 gears it would spin very hard off the line. I plan on a Hughes 2500 stall lock up converter next spring and piecing together a 9.6 to 1 Olds 403 at the same time. At least it will save me tires, just not as fun. I picked up the K&N chrome top with the air flow center for my dual snorkel air cleaner, I added a small Oldsmobile Rocket 350 sticker. I did the Tremclad (Rust-Oleum) roller paint job in green. The car needs thousands in body panels, so I thought good enough. The back turned out OK, front was unfixable even with 6 coats, wat too much orange peel, so I sanded here down again. I was going to spray on Tremclad, which is easy to overspray. Instead I went with Armor Coat from Canadian Tire in Shutter Green, looks a lot like the factory like green, sort of a greeny gray colour. The spray cans have a fan tip, wow does it go on awesome. Almost impossible to overspray. The last can did a couple of drips and some yellow flecks here and there but seriously, I have never had spray paint go on so nice. I will put up pics next weekend.
