Just a quick Q:
I am currently restoring a 79 MC, doors sag a lot, so new bushings and pins.
Fenders are off the car so easy access tot the hinges.
If i support the door, can i get the hinge out to replace bushings and pins outside of the car, of course one at the time, like upper first, reinstall that one, and then onto the bottom one.
Anything particular i have to take notice of ? i know i need to adjust the doors when done with the hinges.

Thanks Jeroen

You have to have the door open to access the bolts obviously. I've seen the hinges removed one at a time while the door was still on the car. If you have a floor jack, you might consider getting one of these....

I once did it with a floor jack doing a hinge at a time. It's doable but could be a little precarious. The tool that Jared shows would be very helpful and there would less chance of dropping the door in the process.
At one time I did consider getting one.

Since i am on holliday and not going away from home i have the time, so i hulk slammed the door shut en since the fenders are of the car i can access the hinges from the front of the door which is still in the closed position.
I can tell that it works doing it the way i did it, had some trouble getting the old pin out.
Adjusted the hinges with a litle bottlejack underneath the door and the door slightly open.
Door closes normal now so its doable this way.

make sure you mark where the hinges are now and keep track of any shims that may have been used so you'll have an easier time to get the hinges and door lined up

I have replaced door hinges on the car using a floor jack and a long 2" x 4" with towel wrapped around it to keep the door from sliding, the tool would be nice if you plan on doing a bunch of doors or have friends you can "rent" it to.
I used the same method to R & R my doors for my Regal.

These doors are heavy..must be lined with lead to make them radiation resistant!!! 1 Ton chain couple of trucker's load straps, garage ceiling joist and moving blanket.
