that 350'll really wake it up! my 87 originally came with a sbc 305, and somewhere along it's life, someone dropped in a vortec 350 block, and it'll get up and leave you if you're not watching it!

It's a great start, don't despair. The auto hobby shops on various Navy and Air Force bases are where I did most of my learnin'.

There's nothing wrong with small block 350's. It's a very easy way to add power to the car. It bolts right up without any special parts or tools needed and it's easy to get more power out of it later if you want.

Thank you. it will def be a lot more powerful than the 305. a few mild upgrades cam, headers, exhaust, intake and carb upgrades. so I hope that it performs fairly well on the street. should be a pretty fun little cruiser when all said and done. ill be getting new heads soon once the budget permits.

Were you planning on a set of cast iron or aluminum heads? If cast iron, I have a good set that I will sell. I'm going LS and can't use then anymore.

They are gen1 sbc with 2.02/1.60 valves and good springs capable of .550 lift. I even have a set of ARP head bolts that have only been torqued once....they are reusable.

PM me if interested and I will get some pics of them later, it would save you quite a bit of $$$ even with shipping compared to a new set.
