Good day everyone. Looking at starting to piece together a SBC or BBC for my 1984 cutlass. Search isn't too clear so wanted to start fresh.

For SBC what brand and style intake will fit a G body flat hood

For BBC what brand and style intake will fit a G body flat hood

Of course both with what carb and drop base?

Feel free to give header options as well. Not apposed to shorty headers, not looking to go crazy.

Thank you.

I have had a few combos in my 84 cutlass all under stock hood on sbc. have had 8150 weiand intake with holley 650cfm 4150-style carb. also now have 6201 performer air gap with quickfuel black diamond same style elec choke n vac secondaries. ran both setups with 1.250" drop air cleaner base and filter height of 3.063"

4150 carb with drop base and a hurricane intake (similar to Vic Jr single plane) under a GP hood. Expect to trim the bracing. Its a tight fit but its possible.

All great info, thank you!! I would love to run a Victor Jr. Dumb question but GP means Grand Prix correct, flat hood?

I have a flat hood on a 84 cutlass, have to look again but I don't remember any bracing, maybe some support ridges, did you grind them down with a wheel?

Looks like the Hurricane is actually a little taller than a JR:

Yes, all correct.

Look at the bottom of the hood in the pix below (bro's car). It all fits.

Wow that is a tall intake, fits great. That's with no mods to the motor mounts?

What oil pan and headers do you guys like? My car is pretty low but still curious. Thank you!! Great info!!

Bet that thing screams!! LOL Had it to the track?

stock mounts, and i think a moroso pan for a G-body type car. All made to work without mods, doesnt hang below the frame.

Check out khan0165, its his car. Been to the track many times.
