I have an 2 door 85 Caprice landau with an sbc gm Goodwrench 350 , 650 Edelbrock carb an th200 ..I don't know much about carbs and I'm having problems with it..i want to swap in either vortec 350 or an lt1 efi for more dependability and drivability.. i see bubble Caprice's with ragged out body's for cheap all the time and I wanted to know what's needed to do the swap and is it possible to use my transmission. I'm thinking engine computer and wiring harness . I know it's gonna be a lot of work so I want to go the least painful route . I Kno there's probably a theard already but I'm having a hard time finding one. Any answers will be greatly appreciated thanks in advance.

First you have a b-body and this is a gbody forum....

regardless swapping in an LT1 or even FI will take a greater level of skill than figuring out how a carburetor works. I think you are the perfect candidate for the Holley Throttle Body EFI systems they sell. Electric fuel pump and swap some vortec heads on your goodwrench engine will put some better HP numbers down and squeal the back tires at will

Why not just rebuild your carb? Lt1's and TBI's can be fantastic when running great, but no better than a well tuned carb/hei setup. The lt1 swap and especially tbi crap is way outdated as mentioned already. Its a lot of work for nothing special.

Your best bet to finding the answers you seek would be to join the Impala SS forum. You're car has much more in common with those than these G-bodies, and as previously mentioned your car is a B-body like the rest of the donks('71-'76 Caprice/Impala), boxes('77-'90 Caprice/Impala), and bubbles('91-'96 Caprice/Impala).
