Good Morning Quinn, Opie & all; I just looked at the air cleaner post by Mike. very educational. The AFR heads, you guys did notice the non OE placement of the values! I'm convinced that when I received these (1996) that they may have been the best flowing heads of the time. For you guys that haven't read this entire post they (AFR &The Goddess of Speed) tested my resolve. From memory (?) AFR moved the exhaust valves (?) to make room for bigger intake valves. At the time I was afraid of killing too much low end so I stayed with old school thought, 2.02 I & 1.6 E, 76 cc chambers & 190 runners. And the end result was way Too Much Low end Torque. As the only tires that fit into the stock wheel wells that will hook up are drag radials. Since 96 when I refreshed the engine with a new block & valve train in 2004 calling Rick at AFR to pick his brain. I'll back up a little, My education was auto engines & I worked in a couple of engine shops, one was a dream the other was a nightmare. Anyway I ported heads before flow benches were common (60's & 70's). And after speaking with Rick I went into these 190 AFR heads, not changing the shape, but smoothing & removing .010" to .030" from the walls as these predate 5 axis machining. So now they are a smitch over 200 cc's & I still have more low end than I can use. Since I love RPM, in hind sight I should of purchased the 210 cc units as they would of suited my desires & cubic inches more effectively. From my experience the 190 units would be best suited for 383 inches or less. Thanks for the conversation guys, Ole' Bob
Ps: I'm sup-prized that no one has purchased my under drive pulleys with new belts yet.
Pss: And now I'm debating on offering up my dual horn modified OE air cleaner?

Ok Guys; The day has come, I've finally made the agonizing decision to get serious about selling my right arm, I mean my Bronze Brick. So any help or suggestions refining my post for the day that I list it on Auto Trader would be appreciated. I don't know how many words (characters) I get but I'm thinking 90 days starting in mid February to mid May. So I'll offer it here & on the "CHC" forum over winter cause its free (Thank You mods). And maybe I'll have a refined post by then?
"1979 Malibu 9C1 two door, original paint, frame, back seat & glass except windshield (replaced 2009). Every thing else has been Up graded (more Power, better brakes & suspension). 406" SBC (No Chevy parts, except block) all after market. Calies crank, JE pistons, floating tapper wall shortened pins, Eagle H-beam rods, Comp Cams valve train (except push rods-Smith Bros), ported AFR heads, Edelbrock alum water pump & Air Gap RPM intake. MSD billet distributor & custom Quick Fuel (Holley) carb. Plus all ARP fasteners, even the oil pump stud! Approximately 500 Lbs Ft of Torque & 475 HP at the flywheel. Runs 12.5 quarters & Auto X's well. But was built for two lane back top work, very street able. Trans is Th350 w/ Toe & Go kit that shifts light & easy at part throttle & firm at 6500 RPM with hammer down. No need to touch shifter it's an automatic! Colman 3" (?) aluminum drive shaft, 8.5" Buick diff w/ Eaton Pro posi 3.43 & Moser axles. Global West rear lower control arms, upper & lower front A arms. Power steering by Tommy Lee, Wilwood front brake calipers & OE rear aluminum drums. Interior; Hurst shifter, Recaro leather buckets. Wheels are Western 15 x 7 with 225/50 Goodrich V speed rated directionals & the rear are MT Drag Radials 235/60. All OE parts included except long block, front seat & rear diff. Too duplicate this automobile, just in parts would be over $50,000, I know because I kept the receipts! All offers considered.
Any input would be welcome, Thanks Ole' Bob.
Ps: Sorry about repeat of pictures

Holiday Greetings, Merry Christmas & a Fun new year; No opinions on my future classified? Been doing some math & decided to list for $23,500.00? That gives new owner $25,000 car & tax package? If the tax was 6%, some states are more some less. So I guess I'll start with Craig's List (free of course). And Auto Trader later as I have to decide on cost $49, $99 or $149 package?? Any other suggestions where to post it? So as I was looking at Auto Trader Classics the other day, at Malibu's of course. I actually seen 2 or 3 that exceeded my asking price! Newer paint of course, less engine & chassis. Do ya want to look at it or Drive It?
Happy Holidays, Ole' Bob.

Greetings Clutch & all; The lack of response may be do to my great add writing ability???? And thank you for the kind words. Anyway it's on Craig's List. As I was reading the Sunday paper today their was an article about the insurance industry & their little plug in (orb port) to monitor your - our driving style. And that in the future most or all insurance companies will require one & of course adjust your insurance rate accordingly?? So that may make our older pre orb port hot rods much more valuable?? Can you imagine taking your insurance agent for a ride full ON up to about buck ten (110 MPH)?? Speaking of insurance agents, I've become friend with my life insurance agent as I worked with his son in a hot rod shop for a while. I let him drive the GuTOo & he actually spun the tires a little. He wasn't use to a high torque engine (he drives a V-6 barge) so he put the hammer down about 1/2 way & walla some tire spin. And as we all know 1/2 throttle in a V-6 (without turbo's) does very little! May the Goddess of Speed be with ya in the new year, Ole' Bob.

Greetings Guys; Well since I last posted I have become acquainted with Gate Way Classics, they have a show room over in Kenosha Wisc. They indicated on the phone that they would be happy to put it in their showroom. But that may be BS as I have to drive over & have it inspected - approved? Four five years ago Volo didn't want it, too new, not unique enough! Anyway I'd like some opinions please. As many of ya know I've been asking for 1/2 of what it has in it, $49,000.00 +++ or around $24,000. But not much interest. So if this car was yours what would you ask?? And what do you think the selling price might be? The reason I ask is I'll have to get Real if I really intend to sell it?? If ya hurt my feelings I'll get over it after a few weeks? With the BJ auction this week, it always bums me out as the GN's bring good to Nuts money & they made many more of them that the 2 door 9C1's! But who the hell knows what a 9C1 is anyway? I've always thought if it as a SS since the preceding GM mid size cars with the Lm-1 350 & big anti sway bars were badged SS cars. Maybe I need some SS badges, YUK. So when this crazy cold weather turns warmer I'll get my butt out in the garage & put the Chevy steering wheel back on & clean up the bottom some. Putting the Chevy steering wheel back on will be a BIG mental hurtle for me as that Momo steering wheel was the first thing I changed about three days after I took delivery (around august 4th 1979 give or take a day). Thank you guys, opinions please, Ole' Bob.

It's a cool car- no doubt about it. It's too rich for my blood, and I have no interest in being the custodian of such a unique factory option package. It seems like a fair price; good luck with the sale!

Greetings Fleming & all; Thanks for the good words. It's just a cop car, I really never thought of myself as a custodian. But I have taken good care of it. Ok maybe exceeded 99% of all other humans? I have some non car friends that don't understand why I don't touch the paint. I hate finger-hand prints, dust sticks to it then. Alright I'm anal. But I've also used the hell out of it.That would explain why it is built so bullet proof. You can hammer on it all day, 6500 RPM over & over, nothing breaks! The benefit of making under 500 HP. Wear now is another item. This engine has about 13,000 miles on it now & still has amazing oil control. I'm sold on the fine cylinder (700 or 900 AN stones? I don't remember anymore) finish & the moly plasma rings I put in this one. The previous two 406's I built (1985-95-6) I used just plain old moly rings on 400 or 500 AN finished walls & oil control was just average at best. And those engines only had a 6000 RPM ceiling. I hope the next owner drives the hell out of it & keeps the sheet metal in the near perfect condition I've kept it in. And note I used the word near. As it has two very modest Damn it's. And I'm only claiming the 5th (?) best original paint now days as their are at least two or three on the forum that seem to have better paint form seeing their pictures. When it goes & we get the original hood down off the ceiling shelf (been covered since 1998) the paint color difference will be startling for sure. Anyway I'm trying to prepare myself for the day that it leaves, I'll probably cry. Ole' Bob.
Ps: I'm going to try to attach a couple of others for sale.

Hi Clutch & all; I got that W-27 cover years ago + it holds an extra pint. You can trade me a new B &M cover P #70502 & I'll send it to ya. About $180 bucks & I'd be sending it sometime in March or April, but I want the Moser here by the end of February. That way it will only cost me a fluid change & a hoist (open your door in the winter TIP$$) lift if I can't get on my buddy's free hoist. And getting on the free hoist that early (season-winter) is unlikely. So I would experience some costs also. Thanks for the consideration, Ole' Bob.
Ps: Maybe I should just part it out, NO I can't do that!
Pss: Ignore the old exhaust system that served many years.

Ppss: I edited the post, I won't give up my extra capacity & fins. And for doin' the swap I want to gain the cap support bolts. So B & M it is. Sorry it will cost ya more. This swap will end up costing me about a $100 because of the season. Crazy idea but I'll do it if you want to spend the money.
