what happens when you the shifter in 1st? Did you check the transmission lines to make sure you didn't kink or crush a line when putting the engine in...

Good suggestions by everyone. If it turns out the trans is bad, don't be too upset. A good, used TH350 is cheap and it an afternoon to swap one in and out at a leisurely pace. No biggie!

I rebuilt a TH350 for my brother 20-something years ago. It developed the same symptoms as yours after several thousand miles. Turns out I didn't get the screws that hold the filter on tight enough and they loosened up causing it to suck air. Easy fix. Lived another 20k miles before being pulled for a complete drivetrain upgrade.

Hey, if you're rebuilding Q Jets, you can do a TH350!
It's not the lack of skill, it's the lack of funds. I like learning and doing new things, but $700 (plus a new converter) is a lot of dough to put into a "maybe it'll work".

I'm going to replace the vacuum modulator, being as the one on their is older than Guns N Roses, and I may drop the pan and see what's what. If there's tons o material (there wasn't when I got it), it may be done for.

Dropping the pan is a good start. I wouldn't worry about the modulator unless it's ruptured. Bad one usually just causes delayed shift because the transmission thinks it's under WOT.

I'm so god damn mad. The Transmission in my Regal took a dump for no reason. It worked perfectly fine with the other engine, worked perfectly fine with this one, I go to move it out of the driveway, NOTHING. Most it did was kind of go into reverse. What the f*ck. It revs then slowly mushy goes slips into gear. Doesn't idle down when in gear either. What the hell. If anyone has a "ran when pulled" short shaft BOP TH350 lying around takin up space, I'd gladly take it off your hands. Otherwise, I'm back to square one. Motherf*cker.

I have a BOP TH350 that I just pulled from my Bonneville. It could use a good cleanup and some external seals, but it pulled fine when the motor broke. Let me know if you can't get yours going.

The lines are new, no kinks or bends. Pump is working fine. The thing is it was 100% fine a week ago, I parked it, now its garbage.

Takes a few seconds to go into gear, and it is slow to do so.
