Always wanted one of these. Might be in the market for a new daily after I give my truck to my step son sometime soon and I might just have to hunt one down.
not trying to hi-jack here, but some of the east coast guys have shown interest in yours, and for shots and giggles, I checked my CL... I'm into a new project right now, and can't do another car, but someone out here might be interested...

Looks good and so does the 102,000 mile Blue 86. I was impressed with the torque my Sister's 95 Jeep put out. I would either hop up the current Inline 6, Edelbrock makes an aluminum head or do a 4L EFI HO swap.
I have looked into it, and the easiest way to get EFI and a little more power is to use a 4.0L head(I'm informed by the AMC guys that it's the best flowing, best performing AMC head), with an aftermarket 4bbl intake and an off-the-shelf stand alone EFI like Fast, Edelbrock, Holley, etc. Eventually I may do it if I keep the car long enough. I'll only lose the Eagle if I find it's big brother, the Wagoneer. I know that's kind of dreaming these days, but I've always wanted a Wagoneer in good shape, slap an EFI and an overdrive trans in it and call it a day
As you know there is certain years to avoid due to cracking issues. Amc head and chamber design was very good for it's time. When Chrysler bought AMC that is when their LA heads improved and became modern.

This head is compatible with 1976 through 1990 4.2L motors. Pricey but flows 240 cfm intake with nice small ports.

Nice Eagle. I had forgotten about those cars. Mom had a couple of them when I was a kid. One was a gray 2 door, the other a maroon wagon. We needed 4 wheel drive where we lived but mom didn't want a truck. Dad found the 2 door Eagle and they both liked it so well that they got the wagon when it died. Mom drove those cars for a long time.
One thing I remember about mom's wagon and I'm wondering about yours is how it performs in 2wd. I remember dad would put the car in 2wd and it would spin like crazy in mud, snow, wet blacktop, you name it. It wouldn't go anywhere worth a damn in 2wd. As soon as he put it in 4wd, it would get traction and go anywhere we wanted. Since it had CV joint axles and was made to be driven in 4wd at all speeds he just left it in 4wd all the time.

Well, just finished up a huge fiasco. I hear the Chrysler Torqueflite selector shaft seal is a very common leaking point. I took the Eagle out and went up a hill that our Astro would take without fuss(maybe a 4/10) and it was dumping trans fluid like it was going out of style. Finally fixed this last weekend after 45 days off the road. Had the Trans and T-case dropped by a few inches, front shaft out, skid plate, crossmember dropped, what a fun job. Anyway its been great lately. I haven't posted on here for awhile, but now has some fresh Cobra GT's and I put a little more work into the paint and it looks great. Still loving this car, I'm not sure I could stand to lose it, I think its a keeper.
