Would any of you gents whose car has an underhood light please post a few pics of where it is mounted and how the wiring is routed? I'm especially interested in what it looks like on a GP but any other pics will be appreciated.

I have a nice light that I got from Kevin and I'd like to get it mounted up 'correctly'.

Thanks guys!

I've seen alot of guys down here using the underhood light setups from the 90's chevy trucks, that mount to the fenderwell, and are a reel type.... planning on looking for a couple in the future for myself...

On my 86' Regal the light is 19" from the driver's side outside hood edge and about an inch from the bottom of the light to the first edge below it. On mine the wire goes through a metal clip that attaches to the brake booster and then down towards the firewall.

For my Monte I bought a new pair online that I believe were for a later model truck they look the same but have a built in braided ground strap which works great for a fiberglass hood.

I have one like the one shown above, from a 90s Chevy Truck, mine is a reel type(you have to wind it up) they did make them in retractable version also. I like it, The wire is about 20 feet long, so it could reach back to the rear tire if needed. Ive never used it except one time helping out this Mustang dude in a parking lot one nite, when his balancer came off.
you can see it there mounted on the fender..

I love the idea of those old C/K underhood lights.

I'm trying to recreate 1991 under my hood (T5 and front accessory drive from a 3rd Gen Camaro of that era) so I want a stock appearing under hood light.

Darin, if the Chief has a light, please post up.

If anybody needs one of those Chevy truck lights, let me know. I have about twenty of them. I have one mounted on my CJ5 , and both my Malibus . Yeah, I know , once I find something , I just keep grabbing them..I still haven't figured out when enough is enough...timo22

If you aren't stuck on original and like the idea of a light-on-a-leash, Datsun 240z repops are available on ebay and I think they'd look right at home under the hood of a Gbody. The lense end pops loose and several feet of wiring spools behind it.

Made out of actual metal and not nearly as bulky as the C/K unit.
