I'd hate to see the "old" engine go to waste so I'd be happy to recycle it for you.....:)

Unfortunately it's melted. It lost the water pump bolts at Optima New Jersey and pushed all the water out. The driver wasn't watching his gauges and bad stuff happened. Guess I should have put in that idiot light...

That kind of power will surely make the green machine boogie! Looking forward to hearing more!

We always had the idiot lights in our race cars so the driver can never say he thought the gauge was incorrect even though he probably never looked at the gauge. We could see the idiot lights come on from the pit lane plus we had the hose from the overflow container at the base of the passenger side windshield to let us know if the can is seriously overheating and that steam cannot be missed by anyone, including the driver.

I understand multi-function anal probes within the fire suit are quite effective . . . Gauges => Idiot Lights => Anal probe [hard to ignore]

Have you considered a rear frame rail brace to tie the back end together?
Scot W at GNS Performance has these brackets available. Due to the stellar quality of factory tolerances in the day, you'll need to bolt these on and measure up and weld in some square bar stock to suit your frames unique dimensions. Powder coat the finished product and you're good to go.
I've got this installed on my G Body and feel it helps a lot.

G-Body Rear Frame Brace Brackets

The new rear frame brace kit is designed to stiffen the rear frame ends
considerably over the stock frame. This bracket kit allows you to bolt each bracket onto each rear frame end then you are required to make your own cross bar to fit your specific length (as each frame will have different measurements). Once your cross bar is measured and cut to length it can be "Tack Welded" in place then removed and finished and coated how you like. Fits 78-88 G-body

$95.95

We've looked at that before. We are friends with Scot at GNS and tend to refer customers to him when they ask about such a product.
