Mine does not have OD, 307 w/ 2.14 gear
This seemed to be a common combo. It must be almost as awesome as the 260/TH200/2.29 combo that was also another common combo.

It gets me around alright, the only times I feel like whipping the horses is merging onto a highway or trying to accelerate uphill; uphill highway on-ramps are an experience. I may someday upgrade but need to determine what I want to do

I can't believe with the technology they had in 86, they actually produced cars with weak non OD transmission's combined with rediculously tall gearing.

According to the 1986 Olds dealer album, the 307 V8/ TH200 3-spd auto/ 2.14 gears was the standard for V8 cars (in the US). A 2.56 rear was available without OD only if the V08 high capacity cooling system was ordered. An OD WAS available for the Cutlass Supreme, Supreme Brougham, and Salon with the V8 only (no 6-cylinder). You got the 2.56 standard and a 3.08 was optional with the OD. I had the 307 V8/ 3-speed auto/ 2.14 set-up in my 1987 Supreme Brougham coupe. Good for mileage, sucked for acceleration. It was a good car. Too bad the transmission was on its way out at 220K miles.
