I've been sitting going threw in my head the parts that l have bought out of the States, and l got to wonder, if the States are buying "Made in China" "Made in Taiwan" Atleast that's what it says an 75% of the parts l buy. Why the hell are our parts so much more expensive if we are importing from the same foreign Countries?

It's bad enough by the time you get down to it we only earn 50 cents on the dollar after the government gets threw taxing the sh*t out of us. An since l'm on a Rant about taxes, how many times can one car be taxed? Everytime it changes hand you pay tax, an now Atleast in Ontario you have to get an appraisal on cars over 25 years so that the government can but it to you again!! Taxed to death!!

At that price they should reopen the fix-it-in-our-garage... you know, like they used to have and like in Christine.

Ship your parts there, just across the border, drive over in the morning, install your parts, drive home.

No taxes.

If parts cost is not enough lets consider the price of liquid gold, err, I mean gas, here in Canada(using online conversion) is $3.80 USD/gal.(is that correct?)
There is an increase in price due to the summer gas formulation coming in. That's funny, they said that due to the winter formulation in November they need to increase price.(I'm not sure if I'm joking, there may be some truth to this)

That reminds me - I need to purge the winter gas from my Monte.

I am glad we aren't getting nailed with the lame carbon tax on fuel in Saskatchewan. I am sure the government gets it share but I am also sure the greedy American coporations upcharge us and we also get nailed for transportation costs along the way as well. It depends on the item as well, I bought a Hayden fan controller at Canadian Tire for cheaper than through Amazon and Summit, once you figure in shipping.

Holy hell, $3.80 a gallon? I put 40 gallons in my truck this morning and paid $2.75 US for 87 octane. Hell I bought 5 gallons of diesel for a generator the other day and I think it was $3.39 a gallon.

Premium is about $5/gal CDN. $1.30/L x 0.75 conversion x 3.8L = $3.705/gal US for 91 octane. 94 is way more expensive.

factor in the exchange rate and that adds about 23% to our cost of a gallon to equal it out to the US cost.
