Heater box leak

I would remove the box and install a new mounting seal/gasket. Mounts to the box and seals it to the firewall. Also xhech the drain holes on the bottom of the box

All l did was change the heater and ac units ,

all I removed was the top to change the cores never leaked before ! ,the drain hole is a large door which is working fine ,ok will reseal !

Are you sure it's the box leaking?

There is a seam on the top of the cowl that often leaks in a way that makes people think it's the box. The sealer is usually dried out and failing by now. Later cars had a plastic flap attached to the back of the lower windshield molding to direct water over that seam, often it falls apart of falls off when the molding is removed and replaced.

Not a small task, especially on a car with the fenders on and engine in.

i coated the seam all around the box with that rubber coating advertised on TV,but I will make a cover over the vent on top of the box ! Good idea Thanks !

I was referring to the actual car body seam at the top of the cowl, as shown in this picture from Wraith's build thread

Brian's right. It could be the body seams that are open. Have someone run a garden hose without the nozzle and let it run down while you're in the car with a flashlight inspecting these areas.
