If you are thinking of changing your rims this system may be expensive but will keep the cats away...

The concept of "Man's Best Friend" applies only when Rover is romping in the backyard catching frisbees or keeping your feet warm at the end of the couch. As soon as Fido chews up your penny loafers or, heaven forbid, opens up his main drain on a prized possession, the extension of friendship between h* Sapien and canine is rescinded. BMW has invented a new system called Canine Repellent Alloy Protection (CRAP) that should prevent Lassie from leaking all over its owner's most prized possession, the Bimmer in the driveway. CRAP uses the existing EfficientDynamics Brake Energy Regeneration systems on many BMWs to store up electric energy known as Rim Impulse Power (RIP). When a poodle aims its peter at one of your Bimmer's shiny alloy wheels, a small electric charge will cross the stream and give Fluffy a tough lesson in respecting other people's property. Ingenious, really.

PRESS RELEASE

BMW's Canine Repellent Alloy Protection

The latest innovation to stop foul play on the street

BMW has announced the first details of the new Canine Repellent Alloy Protection system. Designed to stop dogs fouling against the sparkling alloys of new BMW cars, the innovative Canine Repellent Alloy Protection system (C.R.A.P.) is the latest offering in the BMW EfficientDynamics programme.

Using the EfficientDynamics Brake Energy Regeneration system, energy that would normally have been lost during engine over-run and during braking is harnessed as Rim Impulse Power (R.I.P.) and stored for future use. Whenever a dog tries to relieve itself on the wheel of a suitably-equipped BMW, a small and relatively painless electric shock is immediately administered to the animal, thus deterring it from future fouling.

Dr Hans Zoff, Head of Automotive Security from BMW AG, said; "Research shows that most BMW customers like to keep their cars clean and dog fouling is a constant irritant. Not only does the Canine Repellent Alloy Protection system support this aim, but it does so using energy created through the EfficientDynamics programme. Beauty through engineering perfection – our philosophy in a wheel nut."

Wonder how long it will take the liberal/bleeding heart/"animals before people" people to put a stop to this in the USA?

My mother would get all worked up about it, claiming it was unfair to the animals.

Charlie,
I was thinking the same thoughts. However, I did think of going with 8's in the rear. But again I was thinking of keeping the same size on all 4 corners for rotational purpose.
I'd be careful with 245's up front. I suppose you can try one when the time comes. In the back, I think they'd look great...even more so with an 8" rim.
There are companies that make steelies any size you want.
Your wagon has that traditional Muscle car stance. What's your wheel tire combo? I know I've asked you this before, but forgot. What springs you running?

Lol Animals do what they want. I don't blame the dog for his bad behavior. He was just looking for a snack. I was pleased that the neighbor understood the situation and stepped up to pay the damage. I was figuring he would give push back over this.

BMW puts out an April Fools joke each year and they have a great sense of humor.

That is funny of BMW. I like the idea though lol. I had thought about similar concepts before. I had four shallow cake pans that I put water in and set next to the tires. They still would get wet paws in order to pee on my rims. I finally got four large rubbermaid lids and ran string through them so I could stand them up in front of the wheels and keep them in place with the string wrapped around the back of the tire. That actually works well, but it gets old fast having to remove/replace every time I go somewhere.

Have it stripped, repaired and painted, or sell it and cut your losses. You either want to keep this car long-term and it costs what it costs to rejuvenate it, or it is the impending money pit you describe and it is time to start over.

I mean you literally got 25% of your original purchase cost back thanks to those dogs... it owes you nothing - so you are either in or out.

Personally, I'd run. My Buick was at the same stage a fee years ago and I didn't see the value in absorbing the expense of bringing it back again. Sold it to some kid, and simplified my life.

Charlie,
The wheels are B-body 15 x 7's with...I believe 4.25" backspace. The tires are 235/60 x 15 Cooper Cobras all around...nothing fancy.
The springs up front are...if I recall...Moog 5606's....standard F-41 replacements. The rears are cargo coils. I would like to lower the car 1.5- 2"...nothing too radical. Of course it would entail replacing the springs. I would go with the 5660's up front and probably F-body springs in the rear using the rubber isolators.

Wheel Vintiques 15x8 62 series steel wheels, 87 bucks at JEGS. Coule $10, 20 dollar 15x7's at the junkyard, you should be in a set of steelies well under 3 hundo. You could mount tires in the next stage, and finally buy your hubcaps as funds allow.

Yeah, I forgot that Wheel Vintiques also makes the 8" steelies. I'm sure the whole package could be done on budget that won't break the bank...tires and all.

I could picture a set of these caps with the steelies. http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-5...0001&campid=5335822911&icep_item=172921112759
Hopefully, you can find them reasonably and with a minimum amount of dents and dings. Depending on how badly dented they are, many of the dents can be worked out fairly easily.

While I hate to agree with this, I do, you are all in or out completely. From what you say I say sell it and move on, let the next guy slather the love and money on it.
