I was reading that you should not jumper the starter and that you should run your s off the starter to the I on the solenoid. Thoughts or opinions?

I have run a jumper for many years and that is how I always set them up but I use a solid piece of copper for my jumper.
And most guys that run a remote solenoid have headers so I am not sure why anyone would want to add another wire that would be close to header tubes and besides all of the instructions in kits I have seen all say run a jumper.

Mine is jumpered.

Curious why they say not to do it that way?

Depends on the starter. Some permenant magnet starters can stay locked in due to the residual magnetism in the starter. I had the ford solenoid setup in my car and had a tci starter and it worked fine. Switched to a powermaster and it tested fine at home just bumping the starter. Took it to the track and started the car for the first time and when I shut the car off it stayed cranking. Had to kill the battery main to stop it.

I agree,I used the jumper when I had the stock starters, but when I switched to the Robmc starter due to the permanent magnet's they recommended using the I terminal, so I did. Really not that much harder to do it correctly.

If you have a specific starter that actually says to not use a jumper in their instructions then I would obviously follow their recommendation.
I will say I have never wired a remote solenoid to a factory starter but I have used many different aftermarket mini starters including Tilton, TCI, Powermaster, CVR, Tuff Stuff, Summit and a few unknown brands and still have not once had an issue with using a jumper.
As far as doing it correctly, Painless, Allstar, Summit, Jegs etc that sell the kits all use jumpers
