This is more of an engine question. I know anything is possible but, can I get a 454 and supercharge it and have it not be a carburated motor?

I've rebuilt a couple engines before, mopar. Now I just want to build and tune engines.

I know there's also different generations blocks and superchargers. I just need a push in the right direction.

Thanks for anyone that can help

The 454 in the GM 3/4 and 1-ton trucks from '96-'00 had port fuel injection. I think probably Holley or someone else makes an aftermarket manifold with fuel injection that you could use with supercharging. Are you looking at a centrifugal or twin-screw?

A twin screw. And just the super chargers I've been looking at are all for a carburated on top of it. I'm just a little confused I guess.

You can run aftermarket self learning injection set ups that bolt in place of a carburetor and a few even sell dual quad set ups.
Holley, Fitech, Fast, MSD and others all offer this style.
Carburetors can be made to work well also it just takes learning how to properly tune them.

A 454 with a supercharger will break a lot of stuff: Transmissions, rear axles, etc. so you have to build a driveline that will withstand 600/700 lbft of torque, too, on top of the motor build.

A high winding NA motor can make the same HP, but does it with way less torque, so it doesn't need as strong a driveline.

Alluding to what UNGN said, big power = lots of broken stuff. If your plan is to have a supercharged 454, which just by putting it together you'll be well over 500 horsepower/torque, you need to start from the back. Better, stronger rear end, 9" or build 12 bolt, or a built 8.5 if you want a bolt in but keep it GM. 3" minumum driveshaft built to handle big torque. Beefy trans. Overdrive, non O/D, manual, etc. Then brakes and suspension. The last thing on your list, ironically, should be what makes the car go.

Since the OP doesn't have an engine, supercharger or fuel injection system yet I wouldn't be too concerned about what goes behind it.

The ferd 8.8 is a Xerox copy of the 12 bolt basically. Just way cheaper and far more plentiful. A bolt in with a couple other pieces to adapt it to our cars. My car makes 700+ lb/ft and the driveshaft shop made a nice simple piece that I've had zero issues with.
