I see the engine was built in Dysart, I am in Wloo/Cedar falls if the car is still sorta local.

I have a quadrajet off my 455 somewhere (it might be back home in MN) if you are looking for a spread bore carb, I wouldn't mind getting rid of it.
Another option if you still have a spreadbore intake is a spreadbore holley if you want the slightly easier tuning of a holley and parts.

However, a 1406 is a square bore. I'd stay with the edelbrock (if you have to) or go standard 1450/1460 series holley. A vacuum secondary carb is going to be better on an auto heavier street car.

Qjets are good for performance and economy if you have a good builder but if

I figured the car needed a bigger carb....previous owner had a 750 on it. Said it hauled *ss. But dealership took it off and put the 1406 on it. Figured they took it off cuz I got it cheap

Then just tweaking what you have, Like port matching your intake to your cylinder heads.Have the distributor dial in .Maybe add an MSD type box. adding dual exhaust if you don`t and such.

The stock 4A heads have a terrible exhaust port, they need a lot of port work and a bigger valve. What cam, no mention of that? You have only a few ci over the 403 factory size, not 425ci.

The RPM cam should work OK if degreed. I see a bowl blend was done but the whole exhaust port sucks. The 7111 RPM intake is a dual pattern intake, so a Qjet will bolt on. A stock 403 carb with need idle circuit work to run right with that cam and compression. My 403 carb ran like sh*t on a 9.6 to 1 350, after a custom tune from Everyday Performance, night and day better. Hope you have a 2500 RPM stall converter and the trans is beefed up as well, add a big trans cooler. Go with a Trutrac and 28 spline axles with the 3.73 gears.

No stall on the car......and transmission is OE 4speed...nothing special has been done to anything except the motor right now. So keep the intake and put on a stock 403 qjet?
