My fist test fit showed the factory exhaust flange is way too close. I'm gonna fix the Howe for a race project coming up.

A heat shield was needed. I may have to redesign this when the headers come. The starter also blocked the bottom mounting hole on the bracket. @4 inches was too long for the braided line . I'll be ordering a 12 or 15 inch soon.
Everything is installed except for the driveshaft. I snapped one of the yoke bolt on the rear. I have another one, so I'm just gonna switch them.

First pic is with the camero slave cylinder that didn’t work. I had to modify the header by cutting the #7 tube in about 5 pieces and rewelding them in a different shape. After that there was plenty of room for the Toyota slave I ultimately used. Also used a hammer on a couple tubes. Luckily they are cheap flotechs.

Is that the BS plastic Camaro slave cylinder? Those things didn't work right in Camaros. Heat prone and crack prone. The after market started beefing up their Chevy brackets by using almost a 1/2 thick plate. I've seen how the 1/4 inch Chevy bracket can flex right where it holds the cylinder. I was gonna do mine like that, but iI saw the potential flex when I made the paper template. The bottom hole in my bracket gives the bracket an extra bracing from another angle. No flex so far and I have a stage 3 clutch plate and a stage 2 disc. (Supposed to be good to 500hp. It feels like it)
If it dose flex, I'll go with upping the thickness also.

Yeah, but I don't think it'll fit in mine. I may be stuck with the throw out.
I was skeptical also. But you have to know that my body mounts are sagging. So if you have good mounts the gap you see in my pics would be larger. (I know, I know. A frame off is in my car's future)

I have headers and mine sits about 1 1/2" above the collector, the heat doesn't bother it but I would not want to blow the slave cylinder that is filled with very flammable brake fluid.
That was my exact fear. That shielding material I've used on many overheated starters over the years. I'm not too worried using it on the slave cylinder.
What headers do you have that clear like that? I may look into them.

I have Hedman elite, they give good ground clearance and have a ball and socket collector

Danggit, they don't make the Elite for Oldsmobile engines. Oh well, I did look at the headers I want to use and after they get customized, they should clear the slave.
