Anyone with rare or unusual factory options? How about highly optioned cars?

Why is it odd?

It's a 1980 Malibu Classic with all the chrome trim.

But everything else is pretty bare bones: 229 V6, Factory 3 Speed manual, no A/C, no power windows, no power door locks, AM/FM radio, no tach. Supposedly it was special ordered by the original owner, I bought it from his son.

One thing I can't figure out. Has my gauge cluster been swapped out or is this an unusual enough setup that GM didn't bother to make a version of this dash without "PRNDL" on it?

I think all the speedos got the indicators, normally the standard shift cars got a block off plate to cover them.

That's not a special ordered car. That is a standard car. The 3 speed manual was the standard transmission on the 78-81 V6 A bodies. It means no one ordered the extra cost automatic transmission. The am/FM radio was an option and the gauge package with the full-size clock was another option. Stick shift cars did not always come with a tach and a vast majority of them didn't have the tach.

Well my first 1983 SS Monte Carlo has no special options. I did find the build sheet in the car. And it did have a 342 limited slip rear end. I have read an 1983 did not come with a limited slip rear end. My second 1983 SS Monte Carlo has a few options and I have the build sheets for it too, No limited slip rear end though. I miss circling that SS on asphalt. Anyhow they just sit in the garage waiting.

Cars with no options are cars with no options. There were lots of A/G bodies made without options. When I made this post I meant options like the steel sun roof on the 78-79 models or factory 4 speeds or 9C1 cars.

Bringing this post back up. Kevin Schick up in Canada sold me one of the rare options I have been looking for; a litter container. I finally got it cleaned and painted and installed. I told my wife that I installed it just for her 😁

I think Kevin has all the good stuff hiding up here in Saskatchewan. I do owe him a favor or two for the stuff he has basically given me.

Being that this thread is up top, does anybody have an early G pass side non ECM kick panel?I'm not running stock setup obviously, and having 3 pieces is goofy, I'd rather just have one piece. Pretty sure they came in 78-83 Malibu's and Monte's, so likely the other model's too.
Thanks and sorry for the threadjack!
