has anyone ever tried using reupholstery set to recover your seat, if so how did it turn out. looking to redo my interior and considering purchasing a set for my build. i was given a quote 2500.00 to redo the interior of my 87 cutlass, i'm assuming this is a good price but i would like to use the factory interior fabric. trying to keep the inside as close to original as possible.

I have only done the rear seat in my Regal but would have no issue attempting a set of buckets IMO I would buy a couple decent hog ring pliers angled and straight and some extra hog rings, make sure you have plenty of room and your work area is clean and take a lot of pictures of disassembly.
It is time consuming to get it to look right so be patient.

I don't believe any of the cover kits use the exact original fabrics. This may have a lot to do with the quote you got, the original cloth is pretty spendy these days, and not all of it is available

FWIW, I was told locally about 250 a seat for buckets, and 275 for the rear seat using vinyl that is very close to original. This individual operates from a home shop. Local guy that's "in the business" was $500 a seat

Supreme? Brougham? Color? Deets man, we need deets!

SMS fabrics used to have dark teal blue 87 Supreme factory fabric (Bronte style) a while back as they sent me samples. Back then they were asking like $90/yard!!!!! But I have no idea about other colors, types. You'd need some matching vinyl on the sides (I think it's Madrid style, but someone check me on that). Also a plain velour for center strip sections and head rest areas on the buckets. SMS had that too. I'm sure the upholstery shop could get the matching piping.

Colors available according to the 1987 Oldsmobile ordering book were Medium Sage, Light Saddle, Medium Gray, Dark Claret, and Dark Teal Blue

Broughams used a Knit Velour but it's kinda a thick plain velour. Same colors. I think the material styles were a made up name thing. I don't think it was industry standard, so it probably doesn't mean squat. Anyone with a 1987 Detroit book should be able to find the right material numbers.

Stuff be getting scarce, if not completely gone.
