I used Hammerite on a Jeep roll bar.
Sprays easy, last well.
I actually used some on my silver Tundra bedside where the paint was flaking from a previous repaint.
Hit it with a DA and 80 grit, and hosed on a few heavy coats from a rattle can.
Still looks OK after a salty Northeast winter, hasn't flaked, lifted or chipped.

You're right, it is pretty pricey.
I bought the material after putting in the work to clean the front of the frame.

After grinding on the frame for so long, the thought of saving $20 on material became less important.
With that, it is expensive all things considered.

I guess it all depends on how much you are painting and what equipment you have. It probably doesn't make sense to buy a compressor, air hose, filters, spray guns, etc. for a one time job or a small area.

It definitely looks like a quality product, just expensive.

I can't remember off hand the name but I bought some Rust Converter stuff from O'reilly's I am going to try it out when I get to the rust clean up; most of it being on the front end as it sits so low.

I will say this...if I had better ventilation and didn't have to worry about overspray, I would be spraying non-aersol paint with a compressor all day.

I had to spray my motor with a 6 gal. pancake compressor and it worked out well. I bought KBS motor motor so I could brush it on. It was metallic and after I bought it I found out I had to spray it so it forced my hand

With that said, my compressor and the $10 HF spray gun worked nice.
The gun is so cheap and it was so late when I finished that I didn't even waste the paint thinner cleaning up the gun....straight to the trash.

I depend on people buying tools for one job to save me money on buying nearly new tools for a 1/2 price or better....

Sandblast and Powdercoating will run less than $500, and will last a lifetime.

Are there any downsides to powdercoating your frame? I live 5 miles from you guys and that sounds like a good deal.

DOWNSIDE... You will want to clean the frame all the time.
Powder Coating
gives consumers, businesses, and industries one of the most economical, longest lasting, and most color-durable quality finishes available on virtually any type of metal.
Powder coated surfaces are more resistant to chipping, scratching, fading, and wearing than other finishes.
