That looks so clean and sweet!
Did you pour the Evaporust full strength into the coolant passages?
Sure did, I have to do the other side of the block, I haven't been home much lately. I just left it in there a few days and dumped it out. Should give me a clean start. When I yank the engine, I'll flush the aluminum radiator and the the heater core.

I will list al part numbers. Right now, the lifters are from the 2.8, 3.1., 3.4. The spider is from the 87-89 FWD 3.8, think lesabre t-type (miss mine). The dog bones can be used from there also, but they are proving impossible to find. My understanding is the lifter bore spacing is the same as a SBC with the roller cam. So, I have to find some dogbones to try it out. I swear I had a stash.

Yes, I run the EBL SFI-6. I use both the computer and my table. Though I do have a micro PC with 7inch touchscreen that was supposed to get installed so I can monitor it all the time. The EBL allowed me to go speed density, it controls the n2o and the meth/alky, cnp ignition, along with everything else. Using all GM type sensors is a bonus for repairs.

I do have the rapid flash, I can pull down the menu with the 8 tunes, "press" the button and change the tune just like that. It is really handy, 87oct tune, 93 tune, 100oct tune, etc.

It's 2022. You can just get new dog bones CNC laser cut and sent in the mail. Probably way more precise than the OEM junk.

I'm going to do the same thing to my 403 and was going to dilute it some to make it go further. I still have to do my rad and heater core too.

True, I don
t have the exact dimensions off hand. I peeves me a bit knowing I had a stash of OEM SBC Roller cam stuff.

Mine has been diluted over time time, still works I just left it longer. I keep reusing it for stuff, when I do the radiator and all for a flush, I will buy some new product
Upgrades!
Yes! Not REALLY what I wanted to do this year though, I wanted to get on my 1970 Monte, but I can't have this thing sitting around for a year.

Mt brother had a spare dogbone from a SBC, so when I get home for the weekend I'll try it out and see if in fact the V6 Buick has the same lifterbore spacing as a SBC. If so, then that makes my life easier, and I can press on.

Follow up to the last post, the SBC dogbones will not work. The lifter bore spacing is the same, but the shape of the dogbones is all wrong. The Buick 3.8 vin 3 3.8l from the FWD lesabres is a totally different shape. I did manage to find a couple of close up pictures of them, and I can see why they must be used. Sooo....., still searching as they are no longer available from GM.

Small non eventful update, got some money saved up to buy parts. I reached out to RJC a few weeks back, he just got material in to make a run of main girdles. I''' reach out again this week, if he has them, I'll buy that and get the main caps machined, plus some other stuff.

Still no luck on the roller cam, I really don't want to put a flat tappet in there. These turbo buicks are a pain to work on in the car with all the extra crap, include the custom stuff I added, and it is a royal PITA!

I did however clean out all the thread, and order more gaskets and such. Since the weather is finally starting to warm up, I should be able to set up a table outside and do some head porting and more block casting flash smoothing. Nothing glorious, but doesn't take alot of money.

Another small update.

I had some free time this weekend, and I was bored in a heated garage sooo..... I decided to bust out the Buick Powersource Manual and do some more block/head modifications. What you are seeing is the 4.1 block before and after adding the recommended steam holes. The heads received the corresponding steam holes. I used the FelPro 1000 head gaskets for the template, with some dyechem and some transfer punches.

Here is the block before holes.

I'll slowly press on with the oil passage modifications for the mains. The main oil feed/pickup and front cover are done already.
