As a few mentioned above you want to make sure you get a-arms that feature some geometry changes in them, otherwise you're just stalling a-arms that look new and add no performance: no change no gain.
I can't speak for all a-arm manufacturers but here's...
That is tough, that could possibly clear with out notching. But for notching you want to notch the frame back until it is even with the inner wheel wells. Going deeper won't help because the inner wheel well is in the way. We the UMI kit we run a 11" wheel and 315 tire on a 79.
