I'm not looking to race or anything like that. I would like to build a car for going to work and cruising. My engine has an 880 casting block number and the 193 heads. With the quadrajet, I should get good fuel economy.
Finished repairing the fiberglass on my air conditioning and awaiting my engine. I also removed my transmission mount because it was completely destroyed. May have been the original one. I also ordered the flexplate, squarebore to spreadore adapter, torque converter bolts, rear main seal bolts...
I started to fiberglass repair my air conditioning using a bondo fiberglass repair kit, photos in my folder. Took me about 20 minutes to get the shaping right, but after that, just waiting for it to dry. I also took out my chevy 350 vortec because it had two fouled pistons. #1 and #8...
I've seen two types of transmission lines. There are the all metal ones that you have to bend and pretty much make to fit your application and then the ones you can get from Autozone that are metal at the tips and rubber in the middle. Has anyone had any experience with either one? Any problems...
Pull-a-part is amazing. Nice and clean as much as a junkyard can be and no shortage of compatible vehicles that you can choose from. The sky is the limit there. I've been slowly restoring my car with pull-a-part items and saving tons of money.
I currently have the vortec that I have in there stripped completely down to the motor. Starter, exhausts, carburetor and intake are all gone. Once I pull it out and replace it with the same engine and replace everything, I will have plenty of space to work around.
Today, I prepared my cutlass for an install of a Chevy 350 vortec and received my idle tubes for a rebuild of my 17059206 quadrajet while the rest of the parts are soaking in carburetor cleaner. I've ordered the electric choke fromo Tomco. Planning the repair of my plastic air conditioning...
There is a place called Pull a Part near Augusta. They have plenty of Gbody cars and there is a flat rate for most of the parts. I too, am in the Navy, I just got fortunate enough to get stationed at Fort Gordon.
I've heard that quadrajets are superior for gas milage compared to the Holley 600 that I have. While doing my research, I've seen that there are Carter Quadrajets and Rochester Quadrajets. With a correct rebuild of the same type of carburetor, shouldn't the performance be the same If not, what...
Hello, I am AJ from Grovetown, GA and I have a 1986 Cutlass Supreme that I plan on taking the 350 chevy vortec out and putting a regular 350 chevy in with a Holley 600. Other than the engine, I paid about 500 bucks for the car.
