Im courious about what my 86 442 is worth. No eng or trans. Body is pretty 95% rust free but rear frame rails need repaired. Interior is in ok shape but missing the headliner. It has 150,000 miles according to the title. Just looking for a ball park idea thanks.
Just pulled it apart. Rod and main bearings are destroid. Crank is screwed to. I found out why i lost oil pressure though there is a small plug in the pump housing and it blew out and was in my oil pan.
Update.... so after about a week with the new motor it devloped a clatter not quite a knock. So i pulled the dipstick out and it was missing 3-4 in of the dip stick!!! So i drained the oil and it was nothing but metal in the oil. So ive re pulled the motor and going to pull it apart tonight to...
Yeah it was up and down play. I still have some bugs in it but it runs pretty good. With no stall converter its a dog under 2500 haha but after that its not too bad. Wasnt as impresed as i thought id be but its on the road agian :)
Update i found the problem. It was a junk distributor. I i started checking it and it had way too much playso i pulled it out found one laying around the shop stuck her in and wa-laa fixed. I still need a power valve from mutiple back fires. But its weird my last motor ran great with the same...
thats pretty much what ive aslo narrowed it down too. im gonna check the timing too see if it is comming in too fast and aslo gonna check my cam to crank timing. thank you everyone for the help and ill update tomorow on how things go.
Yeah i think ill just start over and give it another shot. Its just frustrating after putting a motor together and it just wont run right. Makes me second guess ever nut and bolt. Ive put other sbc motors together but ive never had problems like this.
Yeah i put the cam marks dot to dot. If it was off a tooth would it still show that it is in time or would that matter? Because it shows its in time... but that being said it will not idle at 2° advanced or anymore retarted than that. It will only way it will idle is around 8°-12°deg advanced.
