It has nothing to do with V8 or V6. it's the rear end gears. So I'm guessing the car your transmission came out of had a different ratio that your car. Do you still have the old one, if you do you can just swap the speedo gears.

The weird thing is that it was idling perfect the day before. I tried readjusting the idle screws, but still the same. Was raining so I didn't spend to much time out there today. Gonna mess with it some more tonight if the weather allows.

Spent the afternoon trying to get some fittings to put the aftermarket cooler in with no luck. So I went home and put everything back together and took it for a cruise.
Wow getting nowhere with this. Apparently in my city, parts stores only hire idiots who know nothing about cars. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a whole new cooler just to get some 50 cent fittings.
