I swapped in an olds 350 and everything bolted right on. If you have any headers on the 307 that should migrate over as well. as far as your current issues you can change parts out left and right and never find the problem(s) I changed from the Rochester to an edlebrock carb and that lasted...

Peppermint oil from a candle shop or fragrance place will keep the mice and all rodents from returning. You can soak cotton balls and place them in the car or put it in a spray bottle and hit everything with it. Coffee grinds and baking soda will absorb the odor but like posted above it...

Been there just went thru it.. had a 307 and now a 350 olds engine i found for $750 but the labor costs a lot. in parts you are looking at another $500- tops if you have to buy new wires, plugs, cap, rotor starter,belts hoses , fluids ,gaskets, motor mounts, cables And if you do go that route...

Had the same issue with the 307 and it was a series of issues. Choke was disconnected, The starter was getting hot and the cables were melted due to the headers and the engine being hot.. so i got everything new and a heat shield and thicker battery cables with better connectors I had a...

Everything swaps.. you might have to watch how the header gasket sits it may need to be modified a little. do a dry fit before you finalize it. I just did the whole swap and all my parts from the 307 crossed over to heaven onto my 350 :D Good luck!

Check your Starter and battery cables especially then one to the starter.. change to a heavy gauge cable.. if you test it out and it runs then keep it if it still has the same issue return it. Had the same issue it was a series of things.. choke, cables, starter, battery. Good Luck!

Not sure if this will help you at all but you said once you hit the linkage it leveled back down. Check the return spring near the idle screws/ throttle bracket. Look for a little bit of a wear mark/rub on it. It might be intermittently hanging up there.
