I beleive track widths between F & G are quite different. Externally (as mentioned) the two rears are hooked up with VERY different setups. What F-body rear is this? Test grounds with a light and check all cable connections. Clean off any corrosion and tighten correctly. Make sure 120 volts is going into the starter solenoid. Also fusible links are cheap .... wouldn't hurt to just go ahead and replace. I can post up a diagram of the fusebox out of the 81's...

X2 don't yank on the lid. I broke mine in like 6 places - missed 3 screws. I liked to NEVER found a replacement.

BTW, my $.02 - do your heater core now. Sounds like everything is apart and would be 10 times easier to do .... especially if you are resealing the box. I have seen O.E.M. seals for the box on Ebay. A heater core is a whooping $19.99.
