1987 Monte Carlo 4.3 TBI.
This only appears to be occurring when the engine has fully warmed up. I have two separate issues that I suspect may be connected.
1. While at low, creeping speed, often with the brakes on the engine will idle real low and stall. It has no issue restarting. Notice...
1987 Monte Carlo 4.3 original tank etc.
Fuel gauge was working fine. Filled the tank till it clicked off and since then it only moves between 3/4 and full. To make matters worse when the car is moving the gauge will move up from 3/4 to full all the time. When it is at idle it may drop as low...
1987 Monte Carlo LS v6 4.3.
I need to replace the pipe going from the cat to the muffler. No one in my area carries it or even knows what the GM part number is. Been searching the internet and keep finding them for the 5.0 but not the 4.3. Anyone know who may carry one? My cat forward is in...
1987 Monte Carlo LS 4.3 v6 stock exhaust.
My current exhaust has a hole in the top of the pipe where it goes over the axle. Looking to possible replace from the cat back. I am not looking for performance gains or to spend big money, The stock one was ok. I was looking to use stock pipes...
Currently re-wiring parts of a 41 Chevy with my sons. We have been keeping detailed notes on paper of what color wire we are using for each circuit. I would like to take the original wire diagram, scan it into the PC and color code all the wires. This way I could print a copy for each of my...
About to start the interior on a 41 Chevy. What is the best budget sound deadening material you have used? If there is something adhesive backed for the roof above the headliner that would be great. Just looking for the most cost effective way to do this. It will all get covered so looks do...
1987 Monte Carlo 4.3 all original drivetrain no mods, 130,000 miles.
This started middle of last summer. Only after driving the car an getting it up to operating temperature this will occurred. If I hit the thronal while in park the car will rev up but back fire a few times. Rev-pop-pop-rev...
4.3 1987 Monte Carlo.
Normally I change the oil when I get the car out of storage each spring. I only use synthetic oil and high quality filters (Wix or NAPA made by Wix). My other vehicles I change every 5-6K same quality oil and filters.
Due to Covid etc.. last year I only drove the car...
What tools have you owned the longest and still use regularly?
I have a V series USA made Craftsman socket set. Use the sockets regularly to this day. Had it 30 years. Have all but one or two sockets and the wrenches that it came with. I do use better ratchets now but the sockets are great.
Will start posting the progress book we have been keeping for our 1941 Chevrolet Master Deluxe father son project. There is a lot to post so it may take a bit to catch up to today. Will try and do a post for each section of our book. Will attach the pics so it does not take so long to load...
Note a GBody but I am sure that someone here has run into this before. 1941 Chevrolet that I am mounting different bench seats in. The floor is solid put is only sheet metal. Seat belts where never in this car. I would like to add at least lap belts.
I have added brackets to the front...
I have the 1987 MC LS with the idiot lights. There is a blank with a Monte Carlo symbol on it where the SS has a Tach. Has anyone found a drop in gauge or clock or something that fits in this spot and looks factory? Can an SS tach be used here and if so how do I get it accurate with an 4.3?
OK, this is not a G Body but this is the best forum I have found for GM related topics so I am posting this here. 2004 Chevy Silverado 4WD Z71 single piston rear brakes. Changed the rotors and pads on the rear yesterday. They now work well with one annoying exception. There is the sound of...
I have an 1987 Monte Carlo LS. The passenger side mirror was never tight since I owned the car. I am referring to the complete unit attaching to the door, not the glass. The rear post was missing in the mirror that the 10mm nut attaches to inside the door. It was only held on by the front...
I have noticed Ford is launching or has launched new vehicles that do not look like other items in their line up. The Broncos are clearly different from their other SUV / CUVs. They are launching a truly compact truck with the Maverick. I look at Chevy's web site and all of the CUVs look the...
1987 Monty Carlo
I need the door weather stripping for just the passenger door. Mine was recently damaged and needs to be replaced. Is there anywhere that I can just buy the one side? If I do have to get both sides any recommendation on what the best available ones are?
The passenger side seat belt retractor lever broke on my 1987 Monte Carlo. What does it take to replace these? Is it worth it to make them work as they should? Is there a way to update these to a modern seatbelt that does not use these retractors? I also need to replace a few trim pieces on...
1987 Monte Carlo 4.3 TBI stock
The engine compartment on my car is not filthy by car standards. It does look like a car that is driven around and used, normal grease build up etc. What is the best way to clean up this engine bay? I know not to just hit it with a pressure washer etc. Not...
1987 Monte Carlo Black original paint. This is a 10ft. car. Looks great at 10ft and good up close.
This is a driver not a show car. Preservation not perfection is my goal. I have a stone chips in a few spots, some have a bit of rust forming in them. What is the best way to treat this...
Not all of us have money for a big project, or may not have the time. Or just may be looking for a cheep little project to do over the weekend. What are some of the sub $100 items that have benefited your GBody lately? Does not have to be maintenance or repair related.
To start us off with...
