Thanks! I monkeyed around with it quite a bit, I'm just glad they're in. I'm kind of partial to how it looks, too. It rolls up and down the driveway straight!

I've been in and out a few times with this rear end, making sure it's all square before finally welding it up for good. Got it primed, painted, fluid topped off, and after about 5 hours today, installed in the car! No jacks, no stands... Time for a beer. Some of you guys have built entire...

My wife would NOT entertain me attempting to do that.

First donation from the parts car! The pedal is a whole lot of fun to remove, and the dash wiring being ripped apart and a total mess didn't make it any easier. Glad i got it removed, though. I also got the engine /transmission removed for the guy who gave me the car, so hopefully he will be...

After work today I installed my Astro steering shaft. It went in like it was meant to be. My biggest accomplishment of the day was giving the car a push through the back yard, signifying that she's mobile again! She's dirty and needs some attention, but the suspension settled into place level...

Oh, I did forget to mention I ordered a set of Viking coilovers for the rear which should be interesting to install. I spent more money on coilovers than I did on the entire car.:ROFLMAO:

No pictures, but I've accomplished a few things in the last week! The biggest development is I got my frame rolling. I removed the rear springs from the Calais and secured them to the 8.8 axle tubes. The upper control arms are connected, but I couldn't t weld in the lowers until I get the 8.8...

Had my helpers draining the oil from the Chevy 350 that's coming out of the Calais parts car. They do good work!

Last update for today - I have been looking for a frame. I have a crazy project in mind that I'm not ready to disclose yet (might get me disowned from 2 different car enthusiast groups :ROFLMAO:). Anyhow, on a local gbody Facebook group I located a frame for free, and it came with a car mounted...

I hear you! I didn't want to put it back together without repairing and treating everything I could. I'll be damned if I want to do it again to this car, and I try to stick to a pretty tight budget for these projects. I don't mind spending money on something I'll get a lot of use out of, but for...

I bought a jig to drill the axles to our 5x4 3/4" pattern and it was honestly a lot of work at an awkward angle for me and my bad back. Got it done though, and successfully installed new 1/2" wheel studs. It's got tires on the back! It's not much to look at yet, but it feels good to...

I decided to go with the Explorer 8.8. There isn't a whole lot of information available on it, but the kit seems straight forward and it's been done successfully on cars far more powerful than mine will be. I chose the most difficult path to mocking the 8.8 up because my frame has no body on...

I ordered Moog tie rod ends, adjuster sleeves, center link, and pitman arm. All of the parts were stripped, painted, and installed onto my bare frame, and I gave my steering gearbox the same treatment. After getting the second coil spring installed on the front, my spring compressor started...

Where to even start... I've been at it off and on since September but have really made some progress in the last month. I've posted pictures of a lot of what I've done in the "What did you do to your gbody" thread, but I've really sunk the majority of my hours in the frame. The open C channels...

What did you do to your G-Body today? [2019]

Might not be much, but this was a major accomplishment for me today. Axles drilled to 5 x 4 3/4", about to roll this thing back under the car!

What did you do to your G-Body today? [2019]

Okay... Admittedly, there are things that I go too far with and this probably fits squarely into that category. I wanted to reuse what I could from the hardware I pulled off the car. This is the test batch of what I had that wasn't too far gone. Black oxide conversion coating and then...

Car lifted higher in front now that I put all new suspension in?

The coil springs that you're using now are the same ones in your before pic?

End of the coil looks like its in the right spot.

Car lifted higher in front now that I put all new suspension in?

Can you take a photo of the end of your springs seated in the control arm? If you're concerned that the control arm is wrong, can you verify the part number?

What did you do to your G-Body today? [2019]

It worked out pretty well! I didn't have enough clearance to rotate it all the way around, but I could get it 90 degrees which was good enough to access the bottom. It was also nice for saving some room in the garage when I wasn't working on it!
