i am thinkin maybe your idle is set to low in combination with a clogged/dirty carb. idle should be about 1100 rpm in park and a little over 700/800 in drive. get some carb clean, also some injector cleaner for in the tank, and adjust the idle up a bit. if that does not solve the problem it may...

i have an 1985 salon..............the chrome would fit on any 1981 to 1988 cutlass of any model 2 door. the 442 had paint to simulate the chrome look, but the chrome did not go as high up on the body line as the paint did. the lower silver paint on 442s came all the way up to the first body...

I hate to be a correct you kinda guy, but oldsmobile never had any rose wood trim........ all 1979 to 1985 cutlass interior dash stuff was the same woodgrain for the most part. 79 /80 had a few differences between the center dash and headlight dash bezels, but they would all fit each other...
