Didn't read all the replies but I have a fox mustang and when I initially bought it I was having electrical issues which turned out to be directly related to "fusible links". Mine is a 93 so I'm sure the wiring is quite a bit different but you may want to jump on a fox forum to see if you can...
They only came behind inline 4 and 5's, not sure what the bellhousing pattern on this is like but suffice it to say not worth the effort with the gearing and torque rating.
Looks really nice, you got the mufflers tucked up nicely! I have the same kit on my 84 with the pypes race pro mufflers, I could not get the kit in stock form to tuck up at all...ended up having to bring it to a custom exhaust shop to refit and it still isn't tucked up as far as yours.
Fox is also much more aerodynamic that a G body, not to mention probably 300-400lbs lighter on average. I have a 93 LX, with the stock 2.73's and 5 speed it would hold down an easy 25+ on the highway, great drivetrain!
I guess I missed the "plans for a 350 in the future" comment by the OP, still the title of the thread indicates that he is at least considering doing some work to the engine he has already. So potentially anywhere from $150-350 for a complete 7.5" posi setup with the gears he wants is more cost...
Sure, I never claimed 225hp however, I stated that the Comp Cams online tool estimated that. If real world experience with the setup in a car I own isn't justification then I am not sure what is. My point for the original poster was that it sounded like he just wanted to tinker a bit with...
Check out my signature, I guess having this exact setup isn't enough to suggest spending $500 on the cam setup? But suggesting to "just get a 350 and an 8.5" rearend" is a reasonable suggestion?
I don't have any hard numbers to say for sure, however I do know how my stock LG4 drove/performed compared to the XE262H with full exhaust, holley carb, and a mild stall converter and it was a night and day difference. Comp Cams website also has a tool for estimating power/torque levels with...
Some pretty poor advice in here honestly for what it sounds like you're wanting to do based on skill level and lack of funds. There is no reason not to upgrade the 7.5" rear, whether you get a shop to do a gear/posi swap for you or whether you buy a complete 7.5" setup with the gears you want...
Seriously would not bother with swapping in a G80 gov lock unit IMO, I'd go with a zexel take out unit from a 4th gen fbody and a set of 8.5" 28 spline GN axles.
There are 2wd 8.5" rears from both S10's and Blazers that came behind a 4.3/5spd, differing info on when this all started some say 98 but more commonly 2000+. I had an 8.5" in a 2000 4.3/5spd ZQ8 s10, pretty tough to find these days though.
Thanks, I did find that website previously but figured just removing the flapper and shaft was cheaper. I don't mind having to modify the exhaust, the system as it sits seems to hang a bit low so I'm trying to get it tucked up a bit higher if at all possible.
