Lock up for 2004R after computer is removed???

I used the Monster Transmission external lockup kit when my car was running a 200-4r, I wouldn't recommend it, it locked up early and didn't like to disengage until about 35mph.

    15x8 with 4.5bs

You will most likely need to run a spacer. My car currently has steel 15x8's with 4.5in backspacing if I remember correctly, and I use a 3/4in spacer with 275/60/15's

    Safe Horsepower

My .02 is stay away from spray and just search the web for an engine. I bought my 406 off of a guy on a chevelle forum for $2,000, and its been a 12.02 in the quarter. Nitrous is cool but you can find a pretty stout 350 for less most likely that will give you reliable hp without the chance of...

    BBB find

Pretty cool build of a bbb my mechanic did for some inspiration. He's now running it in his 70 gs. Said he could have made a little more but they didnt want to make the mopar engines from the previous episodes look bad! https://www.powernationtv.com/episode/EP2016-17/big-bad-buick

Building a SBC 400 Opinions required!

I am running a 406 in my car currently. It his a hydraulic flat tappet as well, cam profile sounds similar. I have trick flow twisted wedge heads on it, i believe theyare 195cc runners. Makes lenty of power and torque. 220's would be too large though as everyone else here has mentioned. As for...

    Distributor Recommendation

I am running a Top Speed Performance (TSP) ready to run distributor on my sbc. Cost around $120 shipped on Amazon. Some people say they're junk, and if I had the budget I would have gone MSD, but for the money I spent it gets the job done. Pretty sure they sell Old's dizzys as well.

Advice for an OD trans for a 455

Like v8 rumble said, 4l80e is a good trans that can handle a lot stock. My dad just put one in his nova with a Circle D converter and loves it. It is an expensive swap though in terms of buying a computer and converter.

    Can't Decide 76 Toro with a 455

Typically the higher the stall on the converter, the looser it is with part throttle. This "looseness" is further exaggerated by lower numerical gears. Like everyone here is saying a nice 2500 stall conveter with your gears and the torque of the 455 would work well.

What makes an LS better than a small block?

My car is a sbc and I love it. With a 2004-r and 342's i got almost 14mpg highway with an 850 double pumper and a heavy foot. Both are good motors, but with less technical know how a 350 might be a better option. Also, a 5.3 or 4.8 are not direct bolt ins, so while it may be cheaper to source...

What makes an LS better than a small block?

Some will know more than me, but LS engines besides being 50 year newer technology have better heads out of the box as they start at 15* all the way down to 12* (ls7) valve angle as opposed to an sbc's 23* heads. Closer to zero the better the cfm all else equal. So thats a major difference along...
