Looking good! Colors are very similar between the two aren’t they? Liking the cowl hood on it, wish we had sprung for one early on before we blew the budget. Lol Enjoy putting it back together, that’s the best part in my opinion.
That's awesome! Enjoy that time spent with them-
We use "Montana" paints - can't remember the name of color off the top of my head. Grabbed it from a color book and had it mixed. I seemed to recall it being a Nissian or Mitsubishi color though. LOL It has some metallic in it to hide those...
Thanks for all the great comments fellas! We're pretty happy with the results- Enjoy your builds and if fortunate enough the time spent with you son or daughter! (yea girls build cars too, I married one) ;-)
Can’t go wrong with the charcoal/gun metal gray on almost anything- except resale red of course. :-) The real fun for you starts now “the rebuild”. Enjoy!
83’ SS Father/Son Resto Complete!
Thanks to all on the forum, Mike Montes, and countless others who have helped us along the way. Took it out for it’s first fill up to the local carry this evening- couple gremlins to chase away yet but not bad for first outing.
Ok guys so been restoring an 83' SS with my son and after deciding we wanted to do away with the factory gauge cluster and searching all over the net for ideas and or options for 3-3/4' & 2-1/16 comp gauges this is the solution we came up with. Using CAD one day at work (it was a slow day what...
Hey Fellas-
It's been a while and we've made some progress on the SS. Were slowly coming to the end of this year and a half long project. Currently finishing up the interior and installed this custom instrument panel today. We plan to use an end console gauge pod from Mikes Montes for mounting...
Ok Pontiac- I finally found some time to do a little more investigation. Long story short the car has been sitting for about 1-1/2 years while a resto has been taking place and the result of my issues were two fold. Marking light issue was a corroded fuse- put the meter on the feed (orange wire...
Ah- very true. If lights are working via other functions grounds should be good. I'll poke around on the switch and pass side of headlight harness with a volt meter and see what I come up with. I actually jumper'd the headlight harness grounds last weekend straight to the (-) side of battery and...
I'll check out the ground on that side, thanks for the tip- do you think the marking (running lights) would work on the drivers side if the headlights on that side are working?
Hey Fellas,
Having some technical difficulty with headlights- coming to the end of a resto on an 83 Monte SS and have found that after reconnecting headlight harness and turning on the headlights, the only lights that work are the lo/hi beam headlight on the drivers side of the car?!? The...
Ok so after thumbing through the electrical shop manual multiple times and research on here I've determined the rectangular plug is for the "throttle kicker realy" that's mounted to the firewall- no ECM = Worthless.

Thanks for the detailed info-
So, I've got the tan oil sender wire sorted moved/installed new sending unit to driver side of distributor and connected. We're installing after market gauges (Autometer) and this lead should be sufficient for oil pressure....
As far as oil switch/choke coil goes-...
