How to properly install AC/Heater box delete panel?

That is about what my homemade one in my El Camino looks like.

    ATTENTION to detail

All beautiful work guys. I’m not going to post any pics as everything I’ve done is either unfinished or has twenty years and plenty of miles on it. I did a TPI swap in my El Camino back in the 90s and color matched the intake and valve covers to the car. It is a mix of Corvette TPI and Camaro...

    Check spelling before making

The lawn moving was my favorite. Sounds expensive though. And even though the “cut branch” isn’t misspelled, it says tree trimming right below it. Wouldn’t that be the same thing?

    Check spelling before making

Here is a truck we were behind stuck in traffic a couple of years ago. How many errors can you spot? I’ll tell you my favorite after I see some replies.

    Settle a brake argument

You might see the pedal drop when starting the car and getting vacuum into the booster, especially if you pumped the pedal after then engine was shut off the last time you drove the car, but that does not really translate into total pedal travel. You still have to push the pedal down the same...

    Check spelling before making

I guess the form for the sign didn’t have autocorrect. I see stuff like this all the time. It’s the result of the no child left behind push back in the day. Yeah the kid didn’t get left behind to repeat the grade but he/she didn’t actually get taught the things they needed to know to actually...

I must confess my irrational desire for early W body coupes

I always liked those cars. Half of my reason for liking them is that it was the last generation you could readily get a 2 door. My brother has a Dale Earnhardt edition Monte with the supercharged engine. I’ve never driven it and have no idea how well it performs. Thankfully I don’t need to...

    Goodmark Aftermarket Doors

If you can wait til swap meet season, you can ask a vendor that will be at a swap meet that carries them to bring them to the meet and pick them up. They will usually gladly bring them since it is a guaranteed sale. I did that with the cowl hood on my El Camino. I picked it up at Carlisle and...

Proof some people have more money than brains

One of the Mustangs used in filming was just found in Mexico a short time ago. No one even knew it was one of the cars until the VIN was researched. The one just sold wasn’t even in terrific condition in the movie. I thought it was more like a 13 speed considering all of the shift sounds the...

    Shop Builds and Ideas

I will be pricing radiant heat in the next shop. You can’t beat it. It not only heats the space, but the slab is warm if you need to lay or sit on it to do anything. I thought about putting the piping in the concrete of my current garage and buying the equipment later, but decided against it at...

    Shop Builds and Ideas

I forgot to mention that I do have a ridge vent on the garage. I also forgot to say check the cost of concrete work in your area. When I had the garage done in 2006 I paid about $5,000 for almost 1,800 sq. ft. of concrete 4” thick (except one end of the parking pad is about 10” thick). I got a...

I have a 24’ X 40’ X 15’ pole barn with 10’ ceiling. The original plan was for 24’ X 32’, which I had the permit for and then bought a 1957 Nomad and needed more space. I have since bought a 1957 Cameo and have outgrown the 24’ X 40’. My ‘83 wagon is now in my mother in law’s garage. I was only...

    NO TAIL LIGHTS/BRAKE LIGHTS /SIGNALS

I was going to suggest the plug, but I see you found it. You might want to start a new thread for the weatherstripping question.

Frame notch for low mount AC

As jl said, there is nothing wrong with notching the frame. You just have to make sure you put the strength back in by welding a new piece of metal in there to reinforce where you cut. The best way to make the patch would be to make it from one piece of metal and make it curved instead of making...

    Tuned Port Injection

My buddy has TPI off of a 305 on his 327 in a ‘68 Camaro and it runs well. Not a radical engine, just a cruiser with a little lope. My 355 in the El Camino produces good low and mid range power. The thing you have to watch on the cam for TPI is the lobe separation angle.

How to properly install AC/Heater box delete panel?

In my ‘83 wagon the firewall has been completely replaced, so I will be running Vintage Air or the like in that too. The old factory box is long gone for both vehicles.

How to properly install AC/Heater box delete panel?

I made a plate and sealed it with seam sealer behind it. It is now unremovable. Strip caulk would probably work as well and still be removable. I run Vintage Air heat and A/C that fits behind the dash and works well. I had to eliminate the glove box though. Well worth it to clean up the engine...

    Roll Pans

I have a Lauren Engineering rear pan on my El Camino. Very similar in appearance to that one but with a tag location as well since I shaved the tag out of my gate. I don’t recall if they had mounting points for the lights because I didn’t like the way the lights protruded from the pan. It kind...

    Tuned Port Injection

I have had TPI on my ‘78 El Camino since 1998. It is a 1986 Corvette unit with an Accel computer. It is now speed density and does not use the 9th injector. It also does not use a speed sensor. It still has the factory throttle body and stock injectors but with a custom ground cam. It has always...
