    Schneider's SS build thread W/pics

The seat sits perfectly on there. I did have to raise my seat-belt mounting hole 1". When I did that I just cut out the whole seat belt backing plate, welded in replacement piece of 16 gauge, and the re-attached the backing plate 1" higher, and more secure than ever before. From the...

    Schneider's SS build thread W/pics

Here is what I've been currently working on. I'm making exhaust channels that run through the floor in the back seat, this way I can actually tuck my pipes up under my car. The exhaust scrapped at the gas station on my Cutlass every time I pulled in, I'm not dealing with that in my SS. There...

    Schneider's SS build thread W/pics

I'm finally starting a build thread. This is the car "I had to have" at 18, and it threw a rod after I made my first car payment! It has been a here & there kinda project ever since. Right now I basically seldom work on my car, life keeps me to busy, but now when I do...I will document and share...

    Filler panel?

I took off the vinyl roof on my 86' Cutlass, there was standard chrome window trim under it, I just cleaned off all the ugly green glue. So, I have reason to believe there is no difference in the filler panel.

    Different style grills

There might be something to the sub-models carrying certain styles, a friend and I both had 83's which both had the grilles that are considered the 84' style, and they were both Calais. But there again, who knows, they could have been changed out in the past? But I really do think they were...

    Your car *WILL* get stolen!

As for the boot...I think they made them a hell of a lot tougher 10+ years ago. Back then it seems like they were much more bulky and heavy. These newer ones leave much to be desired from a personal investment perspective. But yea, the idea does suggest added security, and they are relatively...

    Your car *WILL* get stolen!

I don't mean to get off track on all this interesting wiring possibilities, but I thought I would also add that I have heard of people buying old parking boots from city auctions and using them for personal theft protection, I hear you basically need one of the gas powered concrete saws with a...

Lowering Spindles, Springs or both ????

No. Personally I have never cut a spring, nor do I personally know anyone who has cut springs in their car. I remember asking my shop teacher in power mechanics freshman year of high school(in 1995) and getting the same reply I just recited. Bottom line is that something designed to do a...

Lowering Spindles, Springs or both ????

I do not recommend cutting springs ever. 1. Springs are flat at each end, so they fit their perch correctly. A cut spring will not fit your perches as comfortably no matter how fancy and precisely you cut them. 2. Cutting a spring will create heat(no matter how it's done;Swazall, grinder, or...

want to get rid of some wires?

PUT THE CLIPPERS DOWN! Why keep them(cluttering up a shelf somewhere)(cut up and crappy)? why not just do as I suggested and "store" them uncut, neatly bundled up behind your dash. Cutting them off is something I may have done as a teenager, but would never do now! Trust me, like I said...

What's the best deal you got on a part?

I hear ya! I've been doing ebay sales for 8 years, last year was the toughest ever! Sales average for the year was down considerably. Only select items were even considered marketable for while there. Kinda surprises me in a way, because you'd think when money gets tight people should get more...

want to get rid of some wires?

I have taken everything I felt I didn't need (or intended on using at this time), snaked it through the firewall and neatly bundled it up with zip ties and hid it behind the dash. Nothing irreversible! Keeps resale value higher! Put the clippers down! A key interest in any investment is...

what to do with my a/c and heater box?

It's nice having them fresh air vents with the A/C Delete setup. Maybe Bonnewagon will ship you the one he speaks of if you ask him Per$ua$ively. I've sold 6 of them myself, It's about $75 to get one from A to B, in 2 large boxes. Believe me, they can get expensive.
