Driver side rear sags lower then the right about 2 inches

Re: Driver side rear sags lower then the right about 2 inche My 1985 442 has had a similar sag on the pass side rear since I got it in 97 with 40000 miles on it. Could never figure out what it is either. Even after I replaced the rubber body bushings with poly, it's still there.

    Was there ever built?

No. The only engine that was available in the 83 H/O was an Oldsmobile 307 (vin 9). It had a Quadrajet 4bbl carb. That emblem was taken off a Chevy with a fuel injected 4.3.

    Mystery RPO codes P37, 79T, 8TU, 9TU for 85GP?

If I remember, 8TU and 9TU are codes for a type of rear springs.

    Eliminate Smog Pump

Don't remove the cat! Depending on where you live, most states have HEFTY fines for removing (tampering) with the cat. Many states have mobile inspection checkpoints now, and if you get caught in one, it won't be pretty . . . they can take your vehicle on the spot. If anything, instead of...

I want to supercharge my engine, advice?

A while back Chevy High Performance installed a Vortech supercharger on a stock crate zz383 sbc (which has 9.7:1 CR). They tested it with 6 to 7.5 boost and it put out nice numbers. With a blower-specific cam installed, I believe it safely ran up to 11psi. Granted, the zz383 is a brand new block...

So just what r NOS 442 strip set worth ?

As for a ballpark price, A few years ago I sold a partial set of 85-85 442 Stripes (NOS in GM boxes) for about $620. Missing a 2 of the stripes. About a year before that, I sold a full NOS stripe set still in the GM boxes for around $750. The prices for these seem to be all over the place the...

So just what r NOS 442 strip set worth ?

What the above posted said . . . most NOS sets I've seen lately have some lifting off the backing paper. Sometimes this can be fixed with adhesive when applying to the car. The NOS sets are nicer in that they have the body-colored background, where the aftermarket sets have clear which makes...

It's a good day for the Gbody community

This isn't the Polio Vaccine being invented folks! Nobody's name will go down in the history books with that lighted top-plate. These g-bodies have been around long enough that there probably aren't any original ideas left. I saw a regular Cutlass at a car show in the early 90s with lightning...

    TH200-4R - vibration over 50 mph when in (D)

A pretty nasty vibration has started in my 442 when I hit about 50 mph when in Overdrive, but when I put it in Drive it does not occur. My first thought was the vibration was occurring when the torque converter was locking up, but if I recall, the torque converter I installed was a non-lockup...

    Body Kit

I sold one a few years ago for around $700 and that was without original box and the (3) H/O badges it came with. I decided not to install because it seemed like it would be a nightmare to install. I wasn't crazy about the material Action Products used, either. Prone to cracking. However, they...

    Water Neck Leaks

Did you put sealant on the bolts too? Beware, these chrome Mr. Gasket water necks are notorious for easily becoming warped. Before you try to reinstall, i'd make sure there is no gasket material left on it (clean really good) and place it on a straight flat surface (glass perhaps) and if it...

    442 SE??? For Real?

I think those trunk lock bezels were usually added-on by the dealers. My 1985 442 came new with it, as well as dealer added side-belt molding (I think that's what it's called).

Anyone have body alignment issues after new poly bushings?

Re: Anyone have body alignment issues after new poly bushing I don't believe the #5 bushings only came on the GNX's from the factory. I just changed my bushings on the 85 442 and it had the #5s in there.

It's a good day for the Gbody community

Wow I'm surprised about the doors, being that used Regal/Cutlass doors with light surface rust go for $150—I'd happily pay around $500 for a brand new door...but that's just me. Heck, since I picked up a set a NOS taillight bezels for $300 (just the bezels without taillight assembly!), I'd...

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread! Great news. I'm hoping to see the Regal/Cutlass complete doors one day! Hoods also.

    CORRECT Body Color 442 Stripes

Hi . . . Two questions: Will these stripes be molded to the body lines like the NOS stripes? Will there be body color black in-between the gold (not clear like the S&S/Phoenix stripes)? If so, I'd definitely be interested.

    G-Body Book

I'm actually a book design consultant and have my own business now for almost 10 years. I am involved in the design, production and marketing of over a hundred or so books a year for all the major publishing houses. A few thoughts on a g-body book: I think one area that is missing from G-Body...

    Opinions! Chevy engines vs. Olds

Same sh*t . . . in the end they are both just big chunks of metal that will hold up about the same when built correctly. I've built both Olds and Chevy engines for my 442. Yes, I agree that parts forSBC are generally cheaper. I also feel that most engine shops can build either just fine, but...

    Grand National Paintjob???

Most people restoring Grand Nationals use SEM trim black to refurbish the blacked out trim. This also is a good match for those who want to turn regular Cutlass headlight bezels into the Cutlass Salon/442 bezels.
