well i put the diode in series and right now seems to be working.the light comes on with the key on and shuts off with the car running.i haven't been able to drive the car or really let it run at all.does seem strange that the battery hasn't gave me a problem with that bulb being out so long.the...

the funny thing is that my car has been running for months without that bulb in place.i remember taking it out when i first got the motor in and the check engine lite was on along with the charge lite.i thought it was just from me taking the ecm out of the car.figuring that's what controlled...

ok even with the diode not in place and the car running it still should be charging the alternator? because when i check the battery with my meter it's still at 12.3 volts with no change.

i do have a msd ignition.what the **** did i blow in that thing.i have a 6a box with a super coil.ENGINE RUN-ON If your engine continues to run even when the ignition is turned Off you are experiencing engine Run-On. This usually only occurs on older vehicles with an external voltage regulator...

:wtf: OK something is messed up.i fired up the car and the charge lite stays on and gets brighter when i give the car gas.i even went out and got another alternator for the **** of it.the alternator is energized when the key is on,but it's not charging the battery.get this one i turn the key...

ok i don't now what i did but i have 12.2 volts to the brown wire now.now where do i find a connector for the back side of the gauge cluster?

if i jump the brown wire with a 12 volt source should i see 12 volts at the alternator connection

i think i might of found the problem.i took the dash board apart again and the brown wire i out of the connector in the back side of the gauges.but it's completely missing the little bow in the connector that makes contact to the charge lite.

i only have a brown wire and a red wire in the prong on top of the alternator.i have no voltage on the brown wire.

with the key on and off i have 12.8 volt at the alternator.

i have voltage to the alternator.i'm going to take the alternator back to auto zone and have them test it again.

on the diagram it seems like i have two fuseable links down by the starter.can one be smoked
