Sorry; jumping in late here. Any idea what size the old rod bearings were? If they're oversized, check for stampings on the backsides. Just make sure your crank is ready to go before you buy rod bearings. I had my crank polished before I bought bearings. My crank had already been ground .010"...
Although larger sway bars and stiffer springs will reduce body roll and improve confidence, I think that the best thing you can really do is start getting seat time at autocross events. From first hand experience, sticky tires will be fun but actually rob you of teachable moments. Go out on...
Logging in to post that the car runs and drives now. Got it started in July and am still breaking things in. I have more pictures and video than I can shake a stick at, but no time to shake a stick at either. Thus far, thumbs up on the TKX trans, and good review thus far for Johnson lifters. The...
I know I'm SEVERAL months late, but welcome back! I'm sad that the old pics in this thread are broken, but glad that it's still around! Seems like just a year ago I was referencing this thread for an engine swap. But that was 10 years ago!
It would be good to know the capacity or recommended master bore size of your calipers or wheel cylinders (if you have rear drums). Going above the recommended size would result in less required pedal travel, but more pedal effort. And you may need a pedal stop. And depending on your setup you...
Small update post.
The block is ready for assembly, the rotating assembly is balanced, and I have all of the parts.
But:
I mic'd the rod journals and rod bearings (installed in the rods) and I don't have enough clearance. Thus far the first three rods I've measured show less than .00075"...
I'm only uploading these because GP403 got Jimmy Stewart involved.
(If you look close enough, you can see the old GBodyForum logo. That sucker really tied the whole back window together.)
Am I missing something? That listing looks like it's just for parts.
I guess that's not too bad on heads if they were done well (considering the cost of the would-be Buick 350 aluminum heads (still hoping TA finds a CNC guy)), but being decked that much I would wonder if you would need to take...
I can't do it! There's so much variety! lol Which, Admin, I do enjoy. This is a happy struggle. lol
EDIT: I've successfully narrowed it down from 11 to 8. lol
Bought some lightly used rear springs from Built6spdMCSS. He worked with me when we had hangups, communicated very well, and sent a well packed box. Everything you could ask for. Now I just hope the springs are a good match to my modified front setup, but that's on me this spring!
My car has never been serious enough to make me start a brake duct project, and I get what's being said about the air not getting into the hat, but you might get a little something out of it anyway since the rotors are drilled. To me it seems like an access point for air. Also I would hope that...
We rented an Audi for my sister's wedding. Not an R8 or anything; just a turbo 4-cylinder sedan. But it was still pretty dope, and we got it from a small town. Check your local rental places! They might have something classy.
He made an impression on my generation too.
EDIT: As a matter of fact, this game drew my attention to G-bodies. This song was probably playing as I started to dream of turbo Buicks.
