    Are Power Steering boxes interchangeable?

Are the round cover metric steering boxes directly interchangeable with the 4 bolt cover regular and fast ratio boxes? Did fast ratio boxes use the same PS pumps? I have a 79 Cutlass, will the steering arm fit an 87 442 box? Will the 87 arm fit the 79 center link? I am aware that the later...

    My 78 Salon project

Keep the Salon and have fun. Their unique looks are a real conversation starter. If yours had a 305 in it, find a 350 for it I have had 2 of them (both 2 doors). I still have the one in my signature photo. Remove all the chrome except the b pillar and around the windows. Mine has a stroked 455...

Does a factory rear sway bar help reduce twist that much?

Re: Does a factory rear sway bar help reduce twist that much Don't bother with a factory rear sway bar, they don't help much in a drag start. I installed a Spohn rear anti-roll bar in my 79 Cutlass that was twisting badly and it straightened it out. I sent pictures to Spohn and they used them...

PICS of my 79 Salon on Spohn web site & build info

My previous rear set-up used the same Edelbrock tubular lower arms and the same upper arms with sperical ends, plus a fat 1-1/8" Hotchkiss stock style rear sway bar. I even tried air bags (seen in the picture) but they didn't starighten me out. The air bags are still in the springs but not...

    Anyone running Billet Specialties wheels?

The Street Lights look great on my 1979 Cutlass Salon and they are super light. I run 15x8 3.5" backspace on the rear and 15x4 skinnies on the front. You will need to use their 1/2" centercap spacers on the front of a g body due to the long front hubs.

PICS of my 79 Salon on Spohn web site & build info

Re: photos of my 79 Salon on Spohn web site I designed this engine before the Eagle stroker kits were available. I wanted to build a long rod stroker around a set of Eagle 7.1" rods with BBC bearings. The pistons are .020" over 396 Aires pistons with custom pin heights. My machinist suggested...

84 Cutlass W/ buick V6 under the hood

The Buick V-6 engines were plagued by MULTIPLE vacuum leaks. The biggest leak occurs in the bottom of the PVC hose above the intake manifold in front of the carb. take the hose off to inspect it. If it is spongy, replace it. The dual jet carbs also get vacuum leaks between the carb body and...

78-80 Cutlass Salon Fastbacks- any on the forum?

Is anybody else out there running or driving a 2 door Salon fastback? I've been working my way thru the forum pictures and haven't seen any yet. I know most people think their ugly, but I've had two and I like the fact that you don't see yourself coming and going like the other body style. I...

Re: Spohn Anti-roll bar installed pics Here are pictures of the Spohn anti-roll bar installed in my 79 Cutlass Salon. Spohn Anti-roll bar before & after track pics & installation

Last fall I installed a Spohn rear anti-roll bar in my 1979 Cutlass Salon because it was twisting badly off the line. I have a spool in the car but there was about 5 times the rubber on my LR fender as the RR. I chose the Spohn bar primarilly because it looked like it would work with my 3"...

ANTI Roll Bar Type - INSTALLED PICTURES ADDED

It's in! I installed my new Spohn drag race anti roll bar yesterday. It went in easily with no problems and everything fit perfect. It is a first class powder coated piece with grade 8 hardware and 5/8" diameter spherical rod end bolts (the largest of the 3 brands I checked). It cleared my 3"...
