No Headlights, No Tail Lights, and No Horn

I have an 86 Grand Prix as my daily driver. I went to go to work Sunday night, started up the car and hit the lights, but as the title suggests, no lights came on. I have signals, hazzards, reverse lights, brake lights, and dome light. I have checked the light grounds, replaced the healight...

    Electric Choke

Thanks for the info. Turns out the connector for the switch wasn't plugged in all the way (guess it came loose). Choke is working now and the light is off. Makes you wonder what was going through the minds of some of the people at GM. Before I was born my mom had a '64 Impala and when the horn...

    Electric Choke

Thanks for the info. Unfortunately I replaced both and the light is still on. Guess there is a problem with the choke.

    Electric Choke

Can someone tell me what fuse is for the electric choke on the '86 Grand Prix? The only one I would think have been the issue would be the ignition fuse, but I checked it and it was fine. I replaced it anyway for good measure, but the choke light is still on. Keep in mind, the computer hasn't...

    The Spotted Thread

I went to the Suburban Auto Group car show in Sandy, OR yesterday and there were a total of 6 G-bodies entered in the show (including my Grand Prix) and I spotted a Malibu parked across the street. Monte SS El Camino GMC Cabillero Monte SS The Malibu parked across the street El Camino

What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

I installed my B&M Quicksilver Shifter in my Grand Prix yesterday. It works great. Now I just need to buy a replacement center console to put over it so it looks stock. I temporarily installed my TC lockup switch and aftermarket cruise control switch on the front of the shifter cover.

    8.5 Rear End HP Rating

I've got an Eaton posi in my '76 Monte. Love it. Plan on upgrading the GP to an 8.5 w/ an Eaton posi and Moser axles someday.

    new shifter - QuickSilver

Sorry to bump the post, but in regards to not being able to use the factory gear indicator I found this: http://buickgn.com/consolegearindicator.htm Not sure if it would work on a GP console or not, but I thought it was worth mentioning.

what transmission did v6s come with?

My first '86 Grand Prix had the Buick 3.8-lter V6 and the POS TH-200 (and it had no reverse gear when I bought it).

    B&M Quick Silver shifter

Has anybody that has a GP with a console installed a B&M Quick Silver shifter? If so, I'd like to see how it looks and know if you had to modify the console to install it.

    Grand Prix rare?

I guess it all depends on where you live. Here in Portland, OR, The most common I see are Monte Carlo SS and El Camino, followed by Cutlass, Regal, Monte Carlo LS (or CL), then Malibu. I rarely see Grand Prix's. Probably why I chose to buy a GP over the other G-bodies.

TH35O trans With 373 gears good or bad idea

I ran that combo in my '76 Monte Carlo. Its definitely good for the strip, but if you plan on daily driving or making road trips with them, I'd recommend against the combo. I averaged 15mpg city and19mpg hwy after I swapped in the 350 horse 350 w/ the stock 2.73's. After I swapped the gear ratio...
