UPDATE: Im still on the hunt... saw a Ttop GP w/305, factory gauges and tach on Long Island... after a lot of conversation with the owner and a number of pictures... I decided it wasnt worth the effort... car is now down to $800... Problems are the owner believes he ovetheated the engine and...

Brother Al's New Candidate? : 1986 Grand Prix LE Ttop

Never came to be... Wife twisted and wrenched about me buying it too long... I wasnt buying without her consent and someone bought it before I could get her "convinced"....so Im back in the hunt...sigh. Part of the issue is needs to be a warm weather commute/fun vehicle. I already have my Recaro...

Brother Al's New Candidate? : 1986 Grand Prix LE Ttop

TDVICK: I remember chatting w/ you about your car some time ago. Its really just too far logistically... and the GP is priced pretty cheap.. doing the math, Id be into the GP for well under 2Gs short of fixing the doors and a paint job...but its not a done deal yet... wifey isnt impressed.

Brother Al's New Candidate? : 1986 Grand Prix LE Ttop

Really?!!? Hell, wish Id known that. I never took mine out of the speedo cluster shell....LOL. All of the GM tachs Im familiar with F-Body's, S-Series, Pickups are V8 or V6 specific... Ive passed over a bunch of V6 GPs with Tachs over the years.

engine harness from 79 fit an 82?

I would believe its exactly what you need because the '82 harness has the additional CCC wiring and the 301 harness does not. You may want to crossreference the GM pinouts on the wiring harness vs the CCC version because they may have switched a pin out or 3.

Brother Al's New Candidate? : 1986 Grand Prix LE Ttop

Thanks for the heads up on the cars, but I doubt I'll need anything from those. This car has a Blue interior and most of it is pretty decent, save for the few things I noted above... Door seems to be a commodity here in the North East...LOL... My '84 GP had dead doors too and none of the GPs I...

Brother Al's New Candidate? : 1986 Grand Prix LE Ttop

As the Title says, I'm seriously looking at an '86 Grand Prix LE Ttop... after several failed attempts on various '78-80 LeMans', an '80 Malibu, and a '79 Grand Am... This ole girl struck a chord with me. She definately has some issues, but she's not a total mess. Driver's floor pan is toast...

"Cart Before the Horse Project" '79 LeMans

Well, I'm about to jump into a Ttop '86 Grand Prix.... needs a driver's floorpan and the door bottoms are crappy, but she runs good and the Ttop area looks great, minus dead seals. Interior is semi-ok, drivers seat is thrashed and the driver's door panel is shot, as is the carpet.... We shall see

Exhaust System for Olds 307 Vin 9

Its true... relatively stock engines need a little back pressure to function properly and also help maintain a reasonable amount of torque... and its Torque that shoves you back in your seat, spins the tires, & gets your butt up the street.

F41 and aftermarket bracing diagrams (MORE pics added)

That would be awesome. One of the problems Ive seen is a lack of complete systems... a sway bar set and rear control arms is about the extent, & VERY overpriced at that... If someone made a whole package and maybe broke that up into several smaller, partial packages, they be onto something, but...

I added a little to my post above, so please take a second looksee... =)

Exhaust System for Olds 307 Vin 9

As stupid as somethings seem at first glance... Its actually not stupid... Its called a flame retarding ring.. its purpose is to absorb gasoline fumes and prevent a backfire through the carb, which can cause a fire and or simply ruin the H/O carb. (A carb that is getting harder and harder to...

    how does this happen?

If that Ujoint was original it was a ticking timebomb anyway with that many miles...LMAO. One of the first things I've almost always done whenever I bought a "used" 4wd or RWD was replace them... and I've replaced them at about 75k of use after that.... I lost a rear Ujoint on the highway in...

    Help with chassis harness

You may have also burned through the Fusible Links... aka Ground Straps for the Engine... they are designed to protect your electrical system from frying in the event of something like you described... there typically are 3 on a GM engine... 1 from the firewall to the rear of the block... 1 from...

"Cart Before the Horse Project" '79 LeMans

Just went through my posts... guess I left a hole of missing info about what happened... thought Id posted it but I guess not. Well, The dealer and I went round n round, price kept going down because he wanted it gone... he told me to put a down payment and I could take it home... (Red Flag)...

"Cart Before the Horse Project" '79 LeMans

No, Im well past buying it.... that was awhile ago... read through my posts to see the tale... it was a saga and reall was cart before the horse. It is solid, but there may be something going on under the carpet that I didnt see during my multiple trips to look her over... probably in the floor...

Yes Indeed that is her... I saw this shortly after it was posted on CL. Not sure who bought it, if anyone. Its certainly not where I last saw her, (although not far from), nor is the price remotely close to what Id have paid... Poor old girl... I hope she finds a good home but at that price, Im...

Again, see my above post Pontiacgp... As you know, Im a Poncho guy too...
