Got a few pictures from tonight. Place was packed. Saw a few G bodies, some nice Fox bodies and in general some neat stuff. If it doesnt rain there will more pics from tomorrow night.
I bought all the hardware for my wagon from belmetric. That was for the front and rear suspension. I also bought the stuff for the front end of my coupe from them. When I was doing the rear suspension in the coupe I didnt know about belmetric so I hunted everywhere for hardened metric nuts and...
Easy explanation. Nylock nuts go on and come off without much effort. Prevailing torque lock nuts are the exact opposite. They go on hard and come off the same way. Im pretty sure thats why car companies use them on suspensions. Theyre also hardened like the factory bolts. Makes no sense to use...
Since neither one of my cars are bone stock I used the appropriate size looms for the amount of wires run. Not original by any stretch of the imagination but I was going for a nice clean look. Noting worse than seeing wires loose and hanging all over the place.
I tried to get clean metal factory...
Just to add, I also pulled some odd sizes of split from late model trucks at the local yards. I used it on the heater hose on the wagon where it could rub on the serpentine bracket. I also used split on the battery and ground cables where they cross over the SS AN lines going to the transmission...
I did both of my cars with split loom that has the blue stripe. Its sold at just about every boat marina in my area by the foot. A wide assortment of sizes. Pretty much in stock 95% of the time.
To finish the loom off so it looks close to factory I scoured the lock junkyards for T fittings in...
FYI, Belmetric sells grade 10 hardened conical locknuts for $0.71 and hardened flat AN style washers for $0.28. You would still have to measure the length of the bolts and price them out.
I have UMI control arms on my wagon but I wouldnt use the UMI bolt kit. They say the bolts are 10.9 but are the washers ? Also it comes with nylock lock nuts. Something I would NEVER use on suspensions. Too easy to take off compared to prevailing torque lock nuts. Also I doubt if nylocks are...
I bought all new 10.9 metric bolts, washers and prevailing torque lock nuts for the suspension in my cars from Bel metric in MA. Good prices, fast shipping.
I wouldnt use regular paint. Theres a specific product thats made for doing this. You should also spray an adhesion promoter on what your painting so the paint adheres to it. You can buy ready made aerosol cans that are a close match from Dixie or Mikes Montes
Ive been looking for a set of doors for the rear compartments in my wagon. I actually thought I had a pair lined up but that fell through. I'd look for them online but as crazy as it sounds Im not exactly sure what theyre called. Anyone know the exact term for those ? Ive always called them...
Eastwoods cad look paint doesnt look even close to the original plating. Ive seen people do it countless times at cruise nights. I would just spray it a nice semi gloss black and do the master in a cast color. Just my opinion though.
Theres a few companies out there that sell boosters that are...
You need to use SEM Color Coat. Thats the paint for plastic and vinyl products. As far as color code do you intend on trying an aerosol can or a custom match using a spray gun to apply it ? I would STRONGLY suggest using an adhesion promoter before you spray it on any of the material.
