I have heard of a few options 1) I think you can get replacement tail housings that are ether modified with a Mechanical Speedo drive or came with it on another application. 2) Units that use GPS to determine speed and have an output to drive your mechanical Speedometer and 3) Units that read...
Any 78-88 buckets will bolt as long as you have a split bench ( a full bench won't have the inside mounting brackets on the floor pan) As for the Console. You will need the brackets (or need to make some) for it to mount to, my guess is the mounting locations will be similar across all...
I am using an LS1 F-Body Fan with a Be-Cool radiator. I just had some mounting tabs welded to the factory radiator mounting bracked. The Fan slides over and has three screws from the top. Sorry its all a little dirty in the picks this was the rough mock up.
A factory bench seat car will be missing the inner mounting points on the floor pan near the tranmission tunnel. You will need to either get some from a donor car or fabricate some. You need to drill out the spot welds to remove them. Dixie Monte Carlo sells them for $109 for all four.
Not positive on the jeep one, but the style like I posted, it collapses enough to come right out. You need to completly remove the bolts on the clamps where it bolts to the steering box and steering column. You might have to pry with a large screw driver to get it started, but it should not be...

This is what it looks like. I will try to get a better picture.
I don't think it looks exactly like that one. The car is not here right now, but I plan to bring it home this week. I will take a picture and post it in a few days. I could be wrong about what it came from, but I am pretty sure the add said Astro Van.
I picked up a steering shaft on e-bay a couple of years ago. It has the U-joints instead of rag-joints. I believe it came from a Chevy Astro Van. It bolts right on and is collapsable so easy to remove/install.
Yes, I think GM called them A-body for the 78-81 model years. The only difference that I am aware of is the mounting point on the passenger side for the trans cross member is slightly forward.
You will have to look for good used doors, check this site, check your local Craigs List. You might also ask around to see if there is anyone in your area that brings loads of parts from the south or west. That is how I got mine, they were $300 each 5 years ago, but completely rust free from...
Attached is the link to John Bzdel's site where he detailed the installation of an LS1 (now upgraded to LS7). He was the first to do this swap and details all of his trial and error just look for the link to his original LS1 swap. I have learned a lot from it while doing mine. He also sell...
The ball joint press kits that you can rent from tool rental shops work pretty well. The are a lot stronger that a typical c-clamp and not that expense to rent.
So I had thought about that swap before. I have an 81 Monte and 70 Camaro, the front suspensions seem very similiar. That said if the swap was as easy as you said, it would seem more people would do it. Parts are easy to find. My guess (and not a very educated one) is that you may find the...
