    Gas tanks

Alternatively, you could do a spare tank with electric pump on a toggle switch... that would probably be the easiest solution.

    Gas tanks

Deeper isn't the issue. You don't want to go much deeper since it'll protrude too much under the bumper. You really want to go wider, or longer to either take up more of the width of the car (ie: into the spare tire tub) or more toward the front of the car (not really possible since the rear...

    Engine decoding

This is an engine I pulled out of a B-Body Sedan. 1987 Chevrolet Caprice 9C1 It isn't going into a G-Body vehicle, but any help would be appreciated. Engine stamp = 5.7LG 14093638 (I think) *EDIT* I've tried looking up the original number I had, and it keeps referencing back to the current...

    Thanks, this helps!

    Gas tanks

Yeah, that's a strong possibility. Either way I go, whether I find a tank that just happens to fit or get a fuel cell, I'd probably have to cut the spare tub out. If I go with a fuel cell, and don't weld a blocking plate in place of where the tub used to go, I could probably just get it so the...

    Gas tanks

I'm sure you could fabricate something to work, with the original tank... maybe an inline fuel pump? But to further hijack my own thread, what bugs me is how there aren't any sending units/pickup tubes for wagons in the aftermarket.

    Gas tanks

Is there any way to get a bigger gas tank for these wagons? 15 gallons doesn't go far with a 383 lol Two ways to do it I think would be to set up a transfer tank in the spare tire tub, or remove the tub altogether, and mount in the tank out of a pickup truck or something. Any ideas? Has...

    Lowering the wagon

That's what I figured. Only problem is that they're very difficult to find. Oh well, I guess I can live with just having to drive a little slower lol

    Lowering the wagon

Well, instead of starting a new thread for something related, I've got a question... What kind of S10 Spindles can I use for the Blazer brake swap? I've got the BellTech 2" lowering spindles on there now, and as much as I love the stance, I've already had a couple of scrapes (minor of course)...

    Fixing lifters

I've already got technicians at the dealership I'm working at wondering why I'm not a tech, and right now all I have to do is point out that I misdiagnosed an exhaust leak as a loose or sticking lifter lol. Then again, without OBDII some of them are basically helpless lol

    Fixing lifters

I mean, when I had the valve cover off I should have made the connection when I realized it was happening in conjunction with the exhaust lifter on cylinder 7, but it sounded like it was coming from that lifter... but it wasn't loose or anything so I was sitting there scratching my head like an...

    Fixing lifters

False alarm on the ticking. It started getting worse today and I realized that it was an exhaust leak, not a lifter. Didn't sound like an exhaust leak at ALL when it first started! Tightened up the bolts, and sure enough the sound went away completely. I'd feel silly if it weren't for the...

    Fixing lifters

I'll put 'er in when I do my next oil change. She's only got about 450 miles on the motor so I'm guessing it's partly due to the break in oil being straight 30W with break-in additives.

    Fixing lifters

Sorry for resurrecting an old thread, but I had a ticking noise coming from my left side valve cover and this is what I found. I wasn't disappointed hahaha. But no seriously, it's a bit of a relief. I pulled the valve cover, checked the rocker arms and they were all fine, checked the oil...

It's been a long time coming, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Yeah, it's not getting anything. I replaced the relay, and it was working for like a day and then she decided to give out... checked the fuses, none were blown, bench tested the fan, and it worked so I dunno. I've never had a relay die that quick before. As for the vacuum actuators, I...

It's been a long time coming, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

GIVE 'ER TH' BEANS!! WOOOO! Got the wagon out this week. Total blast to drive, but just a few more things to fix before she's really a good daily car. No blower motor (pretty sure it's the relay) Vacuum actuators in dash won't actuate, thinking I need a new vacuum reservoir. Need to charge...

    If it's not one thing...

Well, some good news at least. The little modification I did to the shift rod (taking a half an inch off the end) worked out really well! I put the transmission into reverse, put the shift lever into reverse, verified that the reverse lights were on, tightened up the adjustment bolt, and then...

    If it's not one thing...

Experience is the best teacher, and being too afraid to make to make mistakes means that you never get anything done and you never learn. On the bright, if all else fails and the transmission is totally toasted, I have a backup 700R4 that I pulled out of my '84 Trans Am that I can swap in. Has...
