thats awesome. Thats a woman that every car guy wants to make his wife.
A few years back when my 1980 camaro was in the shop getting a paint job my dad saw a 1951 pontiac chieftain super 8 sitting there. He asked about it and the guy had had the car sitting there for a number of years. My...
Bill, thanks for the info.
The link is exactly what mine looks like.
I didnt realize all SBC manifolds had the crossover...what a pain in the *ss.
I would have pinched the pipe and had someone weld it but I got the whole pipe off and the bolts broke (rusted) in the flange so I cant get new...
I have a olds cutlass sup. brougham with the stock 260 engine in it.
I have taken the entire exhaust system off of the car. I have the factory exhaust manifolds on the engine. The exhaust manifolds have a cross over pipe that connects the pipe on the drivers side to the pipe on the passenger...
dang man, the car is looking great. Props to you for all your hard work.
You did a good job making the roof look good for the time being. I have some body work myself that I need to do on my 78 olds cutlass. What did you back fill the roof holes with before putting the fiberglass sheets on it?
Hey, been a while since Ive been on. Finally got my car running, new distributor put on after the other one broke in the process of pulling it out.
I have a 1978 olds cutlass supreme brougham with a 4.3l 260cid engine
Anyway, my dilemma is this; I took the heater and A/C out of my car and so...
so after sitting for almost 3 months with little to no work being done on my cutlass, my buddy came up this weekend and we put new brake lines on the car and put new head gaskets on. What a pain in the *ss the brake lines were to run but Inline tube makes a great kit, pre bent almost perfectly...
nice movie man.
Here is a pic of me doing a killer burn out in my brothers 70 buick GS 455. Car looks like hell but it was mid restoration.
This pic got into a burnout of the month in (i believe) muscle car magazine.
Good stuff, nice car.
Id love to see pics when you get it done.
I was looking over their site just a minute ago and thought Id have the wood grain W7 pattern done on my car if I send it in.
I have a lot of Amish people around where I live so my other thought is having an Amish guy steam form some tiger maple dash...
So your going with the 350 rather than 307 or 4 cyl? Good choice. I am not sure about the cage but I would think welding to frame would give you max strength however if you put a bar going from front to back I think that would create a sturdy box and you could just bolt or weld to floor instead...
Thanks for the insight.
I found out the hard way about the correct torque specs for the head bolts. I was redoing a head gasket on a friends chevy truck with a 350 a few years ago. We didnt have the correct manual to give us the torque specs so we looked in a cadillac book with a similar size...
regarding head bolts, I know they come in 2 different sizes. Does anyone know what the order of the lengths are? I know there are 10 on each side but not exactly sure which ones are short and which ones are long. I am pretty sure I kept them in order but before putting new ones in I was hoping...
I feel you man,
My brother was visiting a few months ago and I showed him the car and told him all my big plans. He has an associates in auto restoration and worked as a mechanic for a few years, total gear head like me, but when I was talking to him about the car he told me he wouldnt do any...
Id take this engine:
4 bolt 350 .030 over 5.7 rods .250 dome forged trw pistons

210cc runner Iron eagle heads

this is a full race...
a 307 isnt a bad engine. I would rebuild that and forget about the new turbo v6 engine. If its been sitting out without an air cleaner get a new intake, have the heads redone and take it to a machine shop. Itll cost you less in the long run. If your talking about making a quick engine then...
You have a point about the gas savings and weight. The thing I like about the v6-v8 is that they are easy to work on. Granted there are probably people out there that want the car and dont tinker with the engine or know how to work on those.
what engine does that car have in it right now...
