What the hell was I thinking

The 2 door versions of these cars are probably my second favorite after my monte ofcourse. The XJC, such a great looking car. Would love to build one.

    Rim/tire size recommendations '78 MC

The lack of white letter tires in anything bigger than R15's is very disappointing. Love the look, but with modern big brake conversions, we need those 17" rims to fit.

    A body rear swap

There are a few companies making conversion UCA's. Umi's look good, bit pricey though. I have the same rear in my monte. I had it shortened to G-body width. I upgraded to the 1/2 ton yoke. Will need a custom drive shaft tho.

What did you do to your G-Body today? [2011-2018]

welded in my drip rails, sandblasted the roof skin and epoxied it. Should have it tacked on monday or wednesday. What a pain in the azz this whole roof business has become. Lots of intricate brackets.

Not a body man. drip rail problems

That hole will continue to leak and rot inside out. I just finished removing my roof skin, both drip rails were shot. Fortunately I kept a spare roof which was in much better shape and am currently swapping out the pieces. I wouldn't recommend that unless you're prepared for a long turnaround...

    Gentlemen, I have bad news..

3rd gens are gems. Respect to anyone who has the cohones to bring one back to former glory+. I say go for it, if you have the time and money ofcourse. An amazing car, most bada$$ car of all time IMO, I am horribly bias though, still, doesn't mean im wrong..

    My 79 monte build

Got the other wheel well finished from the inside. This one was a bit trickier, the outer part which I kept was half rotted, had to kind work the piece I fabbed up as I went. Couple more things to do before I can put er back on the rotisserie and finish some welding underneath. Gotta pull...

    My 79 monte build

Got the rockers welded in. Attached the wheel well lip on the passengers side to the body, and put the lower quarter patch back on. Drivers side this weekend hopefully. Everything is getting pretty beat up while working, putting the body on and off ect. Frame will need a good re-coating...

    HOT ROD mag: G-bodies=beaters

I have a very large box of receipts, a half finished project, and 5 years worth of heartbeats that strongly disagree with this "low budget build" stuff.

    My 79 monte build

Yup the cold is sure a damper on the spirits. I got myself a propane heater and some fuzzy lined welding gloves. Some fleece lined jeans too, they're like the greatest pair of pants ever.

    My 79 monte build

Put the doors on to line up the rocker panels. The panels aren't complete aftermarket, so I cut the ends off the originals and welded em on. Got a bench top blasting cabinet to help with small pieces like that, too much hassle to use the pressure pot on minor things.

    side view mirror mount

It's been so long since I had everything together. Today I noticed that my passenger door doesn't have the holes to mount the side view mirror. I thought maybe it had something to do with the mechanism to move the mirror on the driver side, but there is nothing on the passengers. Nothing, not...

    mounting body to frame

Bushing kits should come with new sleeves and washers, you will need the nuts if you are buying loose bolts. If you buy a set, ie Gbodyparts, they should come with them. Prob cheaper and easier to buy the hardware local rather than order it.

    My 79 monte build

Freezing cold in the shop, but I have been bundling up and getting things done. Hopefully I will finish the rest of the mounts up soon, then it's back onto the rotisserie.

What did yall ask for christmas/hanukkah/day of the ninja?

Re: What did yall ask for christmas/hanukkah/day of the ninj Man speaks wisdom. That way, she has to take it back, which might save you money during boxing week, she can then get something else she wanted more, and is still flattered with your choice of size.

    POR 15

Yes it will hold up to any kind of solvent and the metal prep. I painted my frame, had it boxed and reinforced after, then painted the new metal and overlapped the surrounding areas with no problems. Use the metal prep and such on the bare metal, and just take some sandpaper to the old POR...
