HELP 04 crown Vic trans to 97 crown Vic swappable?

Have access to a 04 transmission that I hope can swap into a 97 cv that I just purchased. Is it possible? What would I need ? Anybody know?

Some 04 are a one year trans with a different planetary gear from the rest

They came with 4r70w and 4r75w depending if it was a normal Vic or P71/Marauder

So before anything you have to know which one you are getting.

There's multiple different tag numbers for the 04 transmission's. Like 6 IIRC

From what I read on Wikipedia I have to hope it’s a 4r70w and it’ll work?

It should be, but there are still different versions of it. IDK what the differences are. Might be electrical so it may not work at all :/

Do you have drive by cable or wire?

Output yoke is different. Also check to make sure the VSS is compatible. Ford made a lot of changes between 97 and 04

No clue haven’t pulled out anything yet , will most likely try to pull one with the same year from pick n pull and hope it works
