I finally got my 442 home in the garage. Upon inspection there must have been a rodent colony. So It is now going to be a total strip and restoration. I took the seats and carpet out and the corrosive nature of the rodents did a number on the floorboards. They chewed the bottom of the seat cushions also. The wiring seems good because everything I tried worked. The motor starts but it has a knock. The trans does shift into gear albeit slowly.

So far all of the bolts have come out without the use of an impact. The underside is fairly clean. Here is a picture of the body bolts. The shiny one is position 5. The other one is position 3. The other side looks the same.

Yeah, mice are fun. The rear end alone equals what you paid for it.

Yes I had to explain that to my wife so she would understand why I bought it.
I don't think they ever truly understand, no matter what.

Overall that looks like a pretty solid Cutlass. Looks like you got a good deal on it. What are your plans for the car?

For now I'm getting the body on a rotisserie so I can get the frame cleaned and painted. Then new control arm bushings and springs. I'm undecided on the rest. It is a 442 so I'm struggling with keeping it original or mod it. I was thinking about a 4spd conversion and sbc.

Looks like another GM defect, the bolts are ment to thin & break atleast 1/3 of the body mounts. :p

It may just be me being a stickler for originality, but I'd say leave the 200r4 in it and build an olds 350. SBCs have been done to absolute death. It'd be a shame imo to take such a nice car and ditch the olds heart. But, it's your car. Do as you wish.
